Huawei HG633 router

$

I don't know how many TalkTalk broadband customers have the Huawei HG633 router but, judjing by the volume of comments on this forum, they must all be experiencing the continuous wifi dropouts that are driving me nutty. I have tried all the suggestions like separately identifying the 2.4 and 5 bands, experimenting with different channels etc. but nothing makes any difference. 40+ yeards working in the IT industry has shown me that these problems are often down to configuration issues like timers,  but this router has been designed to be "idiot proof" so we can't even see the configuration settings, let alone change them. So I have some questions:

1. Are TalkTalk engaging with Huawei to solve the issues with this router? Do they even care?

2. I am currently on firmware v1.21t. Will the latest release be any better?

3. Do others have recommendations for replacement routers as I am seriously considering shelling out on an alternative that I can understand and control.

That's it, rant finished, over to you TalkTalk.

Fibre Speed Boost

Hi,

I added the Fibre Speed Boost to my package last Wednesday, but since then my speed has actually decreased. Prior to this, the router had always synced at exactly 40000kb (I've never seen it fluctuate at all in over two years) and my download speed was always around 37Mb.

However, several hours after adding the boost, the sync speed had fallen to around 37000kb and my download speed is now 34Mb.

The router has been reset, plus switched off for over an hour. The broadband filter has been swapped for a new one and the router is currently plugged directly into the Test Socket on the BT Master Socket. My Broadband connection has always been stable, with no drop-outs or any other issues.

Can someone please take a look at this and report back.

Thanks.

DSL-3782 VPN connection issues

Hi all,

I have just switched to TalkTalk Fibre Broadband from TalkTalk Broadband. All has gone well but I am having issues connecting to my work's VPN using Cisco Anyconnect.

It used to work on my TalkTalk router DSL-3680 but on the new TalkTalk router DSL-3782 it does not work.

On reading this forum it seems this is a known issue, is there a workaround, firmware update or different router that will work?

Thanks

Pieter

Internet connection keeps dropping

Hi There,

I have problems with my internet connection. It keeps dropping! SOmetimes it will reconnect by itself, other times I reboot either my end device or router. It is very sproradic.

I have had fibre for a long time without issue, so i doubt it is a setup issue, and I have multiple end devices and the fault happens across all of them. I never lose connection to the wireless router, it is purely the internet access.

I have a HG635 super router. I suspect I have a line isuue. Please can someone assist?

HG 633 Router performance becoming poorer

Hi

The performance of our HG633 router appears to be getting worse with more frequent dips in the Wifi signal, slow downs and dropouts.

We're running V1.20ttb.

Like most people we are getting more and more wifi enabled devices in the house.

Is a replacement router the best option? Can the firmware be upgraded?

Thanks in advance for any help which will be much appreciated.

Tony

Super fibre speed

Hi I’m back it’s a year since I signed up to talktalk super fibre and after a dodgy start I’ve had six months of relatively good service my speed has stayed at about 16mb which is still half of what it should be but 16 has been much better than I had from my other provider. But all of a sudden the speed has drastically reduced to 2 to 5 download and upload is 0.18 to 2.43. My house phone is crackling again with interference and the last time an engineer came and the fault was outside can anyone help thanks Romally47

VPN on d-link DSL-3782

We connected to Talk Talk today and I immediately lost the ability to connect to my work VPN.

From reading the forum this seems to be an issue with the DSL-3782.

The VPN uses Juniper Network connect.

I've tried changing the MTU to 1400 with no difference.

I've tried changing the connection type to PPPoE but lost all internet connection so I assume I didn't set that up properly.

Is there anything else I can try?

iPod and Huawei HG633 issue

Hi, I have just moved over to TalkTalk and have been quite pleased. Speed good and range. But I noticed my iPod seemed to time out online every now and then ( as in few hours) thought it was just settling in. Turns out it’s not settling in issues. The Wi-fi is always on 3-2 bars, but the internet is not there. I can’t even get the routers web page up to adjust anything. Reboot and away we go again. I have looked here but no joy. Have reset iPod etc... I have renamed 2.4 and 5 bands, noticed if it stops on one I can switch to the other and normally works. Wi-fi never drops, only the internet. On all the other devices 3 other Apple and 3 windows work all day every day so far. Just my iPod. Is there a known issue? Or a software update? Or a different router that can be supplied? Or am I asking to much? I am thinking of digging out the old Bt router and bridging it just for the iPod but it’s not the best setup. I spoke to mon on the web chat and didn’t get it at all. I copied the chat so if there was someone from TalkTalk willing to read I will post it to them.
thanks to all

Awful line speed faster fibre package

Hi, my speeds have been fine up until about a week ago where suddenly it's just dropped and been awful.

It takes forever to load up a YouTube video, one phone is connected to the Internet but has no access, I've been booted out of games on a nightly basis, and had to reset my router nightly because of it.

Just done a speed check and dl was 2.4mb

10 times less than my guaranteed speed.

Thinking of upgrading to Fibre and just wondered if its a simple process when switching ?

Iam currently on the essentials package with inclusive calls which i would like to keep.

The fibre package is cheaper for 18 months will the bill be adjusted accordingly ?

Also it seems the Fibre modem you get is not great can anyone recommend an alternative or is it best to stick with the talk talk one?

Sorry for all the questions but iam worried about switching !! our internet is ok just a bit slow when  the family are streaming and gaming...is fibre good for gaming ? need a low ping my son tells me which ours is at the minute,i know on fibre you cant chnge the profile to fastpath ect...

Hi Community. I need help. My router keeps disconnecting from my TV and my wifi. My computer works fine through the ethernet cable. When I look at my phone it shows I have good wifi signal but it doesnt connect to the internet. I have tried going into the settings as suggested in one of the posts and changing to 5gz but nothing happens. This happens all the time through the day. If I turn my router off and back on it is ok again. I see from previous posts that the HG633 is not the best. Does anyone have a solution. Thanks All

Hi,

Our go live date was today and we ae now receiving internet but speed tests all show download speed to only be around 1.4Mbps we are supposed to be on the faster fibre from talktalk and our guarenteed minimum speed was something like 19Mbs. The router is connected to the master switch correctly, How can we get these speeds up to what was estimated?

Massive Streaming/Online Gaming Problems

$

Hi There

I upgraded to the previum b'band package a few months back and have had nothing but problems since.

Devices are constantly freezing (phones, tablets, PS4 etc) when streaming netflix, youtube etc, SkyGo, for seconds at a time and online gaming such as Fifa 18 is practically unplayable due to lag. In fact we've given up on the gaming for now.

Please can you look in to this for me. We upgarded to the top packages as there are 5 of us in the house and at any one time we could have 3-4 devices using data. The service we had was better from the previous cheaper package.

Thanks

In the last couple of weeks my VPN has not been able to connect through my Talktalk broadband. It was fine but now it isn’t. I have a Talktalk DSL-3782 router. A colleague reckons I need to change the DNS settings but the router won’t let me, there isn’t the option. Suggestions?
