ASUS DSL-AC55U

Hi,
I've recently upgraded to a fibre connection.

The HG633 works fine but I'd really like to use the ASUS DSL-AC55U that I was using successfully before I upgraded.
I've seen a few posts about problems people were having but none that ended with a success story! Has anyone managed to get this router connected. If so - how?

The auto detect doesn't work - so I've suppied my PPP ID and password (having confirmed thay were correct) . I've fiddled with some of the settings following the advice provided by TT for non TT routers but I'm getting no-where.

I've been in touch with ASUS but haven't managed to get beyond "turn it off and turn it back on again" yet. :-)
Thanks folks.
Stuart

Fibre broadband speed not reaching minimum guaranteed speed.

On Friday, 09th March 2018 my Faster Fibre was activated. I was told (by the welcome pack) that my minimum guaranteed broadband speed would be 35mbps, however it has only been reaching 20/25mbps (sometime less). I've logged on to the router admin page (192.168.1.1) and it says the router download connection speed is: 39999 and the upload: 9999, so I should be reaching around 35mbps. I've speed tested from 4 mobile phones (in the same room as the router) and a laptop (connected via Ethernet) and the speed has always been 20/25mbps. Any help would be appreciated.

My router disconnects from my you view box daily, I’m not sure if it’s the box or router (wired connection) but wondered if a firmware update would assist? If so please arrange, if not any suggestions?

Hello,

I have been with Talk Talk for many years and finally upgraded the package last week and discovered afterwards that Teamviewer has been blocked.

I have therefore given notice to leave but I have seen a few members on the forum manage to get it resolved.

Can anybody help with what is a frustrating issue?

Regards, swiflee.

Slow fibre broadband

Hi, my fibre broadband is becoming slower and slower and at times making devices already connected to become disconnected, only a reset of the hub will allow them to reconnect.

When we first swapped over to fibre it was fantastic, speeds where great regardless of the amount of devices connected.

Our channel type used to be set to ‘fast’ but has now changed to ‘interleaved’. Nothing has been changed around or near the hub but just seems to keep dropping devices and going really slow & it is becoming a near enough daily task resetting the hub.

Please help

Thanks

DSL3782 Modem mode success!

Ok

So I was rather annoyed at the beginning of the year that my Hg635 decided to stop working nicely.  Having swapped to my backup tp w8980 with crossflashed firmware , I was back online quickly.

Talktalk were excellent in sending me a Dsl3782 replacement.  However i never swapped it out as i use modem/bridge mode.  Well, i since discovered that the tplink doesnt like my cabinet modem and my sync has dropped from 80 to around 66 which was annoying.  So i thought id have a go at configuring the tt router to modem mode.  And... It works!  So  please note this. I will be posting screenshots on this thread when i get a chance.  Similar procedure to the HG635 and my own router picks up the WAN address!  Hooray!  Hopefully DLM will push my bandwidth backup to 80 over the next few days/weeks.

Fiber Speep

I activated my internet connection on Friday, March 9, but the speed fluctuates significantly.  In the beginning, the connection was OK, reaching speeds of 36mpbs.  However, the speed is currently around 1mbps (based on online tools).  I had the same issue on Saturday, but Sunday and up until earlier today the speed was around 35mbps.  I contacted a representative on the chat system and he did a firmware upgrade on the router which did not solve the problem.  Currently, my speed is at around 1mpbs.  I never received a call back to confirm whether or not the problem was solved.

HG633 Connection Issues

I’m currently having some issues with my connection, my DSL is fine (Up, stable and Showtime status with good up and down rates), but my router isn’t making an IP connection for Internet.

This has happened a few times before but has been resolved quite quickly with a bit of fiddling and some reboots. That hasn’t today, so I opened a live chat and have been told there is a possible line fault near the exchange and it’ll take BT 2-3 days to sort.

Im curious how I’m seeing a stable DSL connection if it’s a fault on the line? Could you educate me?

I’d also welcome a firmware upgrade to help with the WiFi issues or one of the new D Link routers that seem to be helping people.

Hello,

I believe i read that there is now a firmware to fix issues with loading the admin panel on the HG633 router (currently running v1.22t). If so can i have the firmware pushed through please.

Also is the new Dlink router now avaliable, last time i was here it was still in trial.

Cheers

Sync speed down by 28% after holiday, any ideas ?

My sync speed in September 2017 was 38571 down and 7147 up and was pretty much in that range since my upgrade to fibre.

Have just returned from 8 weeks in Thailand.

Sync speed now 27705 down and 6087 up.

Router reports maximum line speeds are 38380 down and 6303 up.

Phone is working fine, have moved the router to the test socket with new cables and filter, no change.

Noise margins are both at the normal for my line of 6dB.

Throughput speeds are pretty much as expected for the sync speed on both ethernet and WiFi.

Is my HG633 dying ?

G.Fast available or not?

Hey,

I submitted a post regarding G.Fast but I don't think it submitted successfully so here goes again.

So I have been advised by BT who are my current supplier that G.Fast is available for me (this is confirmed with dslchecker.bt.com) with speeds of up to 330mb.

Why can I not subscribe to TalkTalk 150 fibre package if it is available? BT allow me to place an order but only over the phone and at a pricier £60 per month compared to TT £36 per month.

Hope a mod able to help.

Cheers, NE.

Problems with Wi-fi connected devices. Ps4/xbox ones/phones etc

Hiya

Back in April last year I had a problem where my xbox one and PS4 would turn of my routers

wi-fi every time i turned them on.. I got it sorted in the end with a firmware downgrade I beilieve but I always had problems since then but not as bad but now anything that is connected to my router via wi-fi is having problems anything connected via Cable not a problem. I have tried the usual blurp like modem reset, turning on and off etc but i can't solve my problems.

The trouble I am having is tablets and phones can connect to the router but have trouble loading pages or they won't load at all. Apps like Amazon or facebook take forever to load or won't load at all.

Unable to watch anything on Sky go thats on TV without it having to buffer every few seconds and picture keeps going distorted. Apps like Netflix , Youtube , Amazon prime , All 4 etc keep buffering and disconnecting and I have trouble if I am trying to game online with xbox or ps4 as similar problems.

My internet speed is between 23-30mps and I have no trouble with my computer or my TV box as these are connected via home plugs.

But am finding rather annoying now as I do watch most of my TV via apps like Sky go or netflix.

The problem has got worse over the last few days and making it impossible to watch anything.

Any help would great thank you :)

Broadband Speed suddenly erratic over past 24 hours

Hi

My fibre broadband speed is never great but is normally quite stable at around 10mbps down and 5mbps up. Today, however, the download speed has varied from zero (all requests timed out) to 37mbps. I have reset the router several times and left switched off for 30mins and the download speed gradually decreases again once switched back on although the upload speed is constant at around 5mbps. Voice service is fine and router lights are all at green. Is this some sort of traffic management issue or could anything else be causing this irritating problem which is resulting in the service being almost unusable. PC is ethernet connected and the router is plugged into the master socket (the test socket makes no difference).

Low Fibre Boost speeds

Hi,

Yesterday I renewed my TT contract and opted for the fibre boost.  This seems to have been applied to my line now but i'm getting barely 33mb download speeds.  Can you check at your end that the correct settings have been applied?

The router config page shows:-

Downstream line rate (kbit/s):  55281

Which seems low.  Please advise.

Many Thanks,

Mark
