Line activation was today and Hub keeps on flashing amber light since powering on. I've read other posts with the same problem, can this be resolved without having to go through forums or customer service? I'm new to having a home internet connection, and so far, I'm very unimpressed.
Constant flashing amber light from TalkTalk Hub
Faster fibre slow speed
Hi! I'm experiencing really low speed issues, speed issues started around Christmas time and it got worst now, this is my current speed which is quite disappointing:
I did the usual troubleshooting, switch the router off and on, check router settings....
All my devices are connected to the 5 GHz band, on the same room ( I live in a small apartment)
The really strange thing is, I've been with TalkTalk for 3 years and at first I used to get around 5 Mbps download speed and around 3 Mbps upload speed but it seems within time the speed has been degraded...
Could any admin have a look into this?
Thanks!
Strange TalkTalk DNS behaviour - dns.google and DOH
For some reason using the TalkTalk DNS server (79.79.79.79) to resolve dns.google (which is what I for anonymising DNS queries on my phone} gives me a TalkTalk IP address, and that address is unable to resolve using DOH. The TT DNS server resolves quad9 OK.
Why would TalkTalk's DNS not be resolving dns.google correctly? Here's the dig output showing the result from using TalkTalk's DNS compared to the result of using Google's DNS. In both cases I'm trying to resolve "dns.google". Am I missing something obvious?

Lifx Kasa from TP-Link UnPnP with TT Sagecom Fastnet 5364
I've spent hours (and not a little money) fighting, trying to get either a TP-Link Kasa Smartplug (HS100) or (preferably AND!) a Lifx smart lightbulb to work on my LAN. I use TT for my ISP, and so spent ages setting up one of their Sagecom Fastnet 5364 router/ modems, to "be good" (do it their way.)
I am increasingly convinced that my probems with the Lifx and Kasa are because I cannot turn UnPNP on. Now. I don't WANT UnPNP on, but I may need to turn it on temporarily to get either of these devices set up. They are not weird things from some obscure eBay source. If TalkTalk's modem can't work with a TP-Link device, I don't think it will dent my respect for TP-Link. And while Lifx isn't quite of the stature of TP-Link, I will be disappointed if Talk Talk won't work with that either.
Maybe I don't need UnPNP... if there's another route to getting the devices set up, I'd be please to hear what it is.

Awfully slow speed, VPN issue and inability to solve
Hi there,
I have had issues since starting the service from talk talk and routinely get internet speeds < 0.1mbps.
To get around this I have been resetting the router which temporarily boosts the internet for a period of time. The same is true of VPN (which I need to work) and having to restart the router each time I need to work.
I have been in contact with talk talk all morning and have had the same conversation 4 or 5 times now with different agents. The first being Hlengiwe and the last being Bongeka Pearl.
I have been told each time that I am to start another live chat after 30 minutes to allow enough time for the intrusive tests to be completed. Each time I have done this, no tests have been completed and no resolution made and the process starts again.
I have no signal, 3G or 4G where I live so live chat is my only method of communication / website/email.
Please can you look into this as a matter of urgency.
Many thanks,
Joe
PIA VPN Not working
Hi,
Just like user petruccs, I am also having issues connecting to my VPN. Could I also get a new router (HG633) to test if I can access my VPN service?
Talk Talk Speed checker?
A few months ago I upgraded to Fibre which included the new Sagem router. The service is working reasonably well though I did initially have to re-site the router to get the best wifi performance (compared to the location of my previous router) which involved checking signal strength and the best wifi channel/s allocation using a proprietary Spectrum analyser
App and checking the corresponding download and upload speeds at various locations in our property using the Talk Talk speed checker. Since that time I have continued to periodically check these parameters for stability given there are a number of competing Wifi networks from adjacent neighbour properties. Overall my Wifi performance is now looking good.
However over the last few days I have not been able to use the Talk Talk speed tester and I consistently get the pop up message 'Unable to connect to a server at this time, please try later' with the option to retry the test but to no avail. Clearly I could start using an alternative speed checker (there are many available) but from a consistency perspective I would have preferred to use the same Talk Talk speed checker. Does any one know if the Talk Talk speed checker will be back up/running anytime soon and indeed does it affect other people or is it a local issue of some kind may be due to website permissions etc?
The speed checker will not currently run on any of our devices; Including Desk top - Ethernet connected or Mobile - Wifi devices.
Thanks in advance.
Fiber Speed Drop - Is my connection being throttled?
Been using Talk Talk since the end of summer, and have had a significant drop in my service, over the course of a few months. I am unsure whether this is due to an issue on the line and openreaches DLM has slown my service, or wheter my service has been throttled. Has anyone else expericed throttling?
I currently use a Draytek Vigor 130 modem, this is because talk talks own router, does not support modem mode or bridge mode (I can't understand why this is not included in software) and I prefer to use ubiquiti network gear for managment reasons.
Whenever I phone TalkTalk they seem to just blame the modem and tell me to plug in their router (which I have done a few times with no increase in speed). They say that they are going to do a network reset.
I have plugged in the modem into the filter provided and that into the test socket to see if I get any increase in speed. This has only been plugged in for a few hours, with no increase so far.
I have run a check on the modem and it shows that my attainable speed is around 63Mbps, however the actual rate is 15Mbps, after looking into the exact meaning of the actual rate, acording to the draytek documentation this is a limit set by the ISP.
Therefore I have concluded that Talk Talk or Openreach are purposely throttling my service. Whether this is because of line stability problems I do not know.
As can be seen from the speed test graphs, my service was 55Mbps+ which was acceptiable, however you can see how it drops drasically in November. (A speed test is run every 15 minutes or so. I was away for most of December so shut down some of the networking equimpment, that is why there is a missing part in the data.)
DNS settings not working with DHCP?
Hello,
For the last few days, my TalkTalk router is not giving out the DNS settings to DHCP clients, thus there is no connection to the internet. If I manually put the router IP address in the clients settings, it works.
Why has the router suddenly stopped giving out DNS info to the DHCP clients?
I have the latest firmware SG4K10002808t on FAST5364 3.00
Free 12m amazon prime with Fibre offer a con?
Signed up to fibre. Didn’t receive any info about prime (was included as part of the deal). Contacted customer service and received the code, which didn’t work. Amazon states it’s been used already and to contact TalkTalk.
TalkTalk webpage says if it doesn’t work, contact Amazon. Someone help......please!
Fibre Upgrade
Just before Christmas I received an email from you saying that you believed you could upgrade me to a faster service.
I didn't seek an upgrade as the service I was getting was sufficient for my needs, but it didn't appear as if I was being given an option.
As advised I was contacted by Openreach to tell me that they had performed an upgrade, however I subsequently found that I had no internet connection at all.
I have done everything I can think of at my end, the router is now connected to the main socket, I've left it turned off for a while before rebooting, I've also reset the router physically but nothing has worked.
I also went through the browser and tried a reset but again it made no difference, although what I did notice is that it reports that the Current Connection Type is ADSL whereas I believe it should be VDSL for fibre.
I should say that my phone line is unaffected.
Is there something else I should be doing or is this an Openreach issue?
faster fibre with speed boost and phone problems after a windy storm, please help
yesterday evening there was a windy storm, my internet went down, reconnected and went down again, this happened over at over and was also a slow connection. I then checked my landline and there was lots of static/buzzing. A few hours into the windy storm the internet went down and didn't come back up so i checked to see if the static/buzzing had got any better on the landline but there was no dial tone and it has no dial tone since then.
In summary start of storm internet kept disconnecting and reconnecting and had very slow speed and landline had static/buzzing. Then few hours into windy storm internet disconnected and didn't reconnect and landline had no dial tone at all. The internet has come back on since then but is very slow and bad quality connection (slow speed, high ping and lots of jitter) .
Can someone help with this, i think a engineer will be needed as having a slow and bad quality internet connection and a landline with no dial tone points to the storm doing some damage to wires somewhere.
Router randomly disconnects - DNS issues
can someone assist, when browsing on laptop (wifi) my page will freeze (different sites not just the one) I click on Troubleshoot and windows checks a few things at at the end it says dns resolved (gateway) and everything works again.
I have used the chat facility 3 times and each time they run tests but as I follow up they cant answer what the problem is.
I read here previously someone has a similar problem and an advisor sent a replacement router out and this fixed his issue - Can I get this?
I have changed the dns in router settings, updated all software, rebooted router several times and plugged directly into the maser socket all with the same problem, so I think it is hardware related.
thank you.
Talktalks interpretation of language and law
Hey talktalk social media folks, would just like to offer up two statements for consideration, "void the contract and delete my details," and, "I am no longer a customer of talktalk."
Just curious how talktalk would interpret those?
As a statement of cancellation?
Or a statement of satisfaction not requiring of any reference to cancellation from talktalk and an instruction for talktalk to keep charging?
Any opinions from any others reading this?
Why does TalkTalk cap your internet speed ?
I've just joined TalkTalk and have to say it's been a nightmare experience and thinking of cancelling, but before i do i just wanted to find out if anyone know why TalkTalk caps your max speed.
My router downstream "Actual" is reading 80mbps (80000kbps) but it doesn't matter how many different machines i try connecting directly to the router with a network cable, the max speed i can get is 69.9. All my wireless devices are the same.
I've tried speaking to their african customer services and support, but no matter how hard i try to spell it out to them, they just don't understand, so i'm left banging my head off a wall.
Anyone know the reason for the speed cap ?
Why are speeds being capped ?
Just joined TalkTalk and would like to know why my speeds are being capped at around 65mb, even though my router downstream "Actual" speed is at 80mb.
I tried calling the African customer service & Tech support but they are absolutely useless and the people i spoke to could barely speak English, so gave up in the the end after 20 mins on the call as they just didn't have a clue and couldn't grasp what i was trying to tell them.
Does anyone else have similar caps in place, when their downstream is much higher ?
2.4ghz connection stops working. 5ghz remains ok
hi
i received an upgrade to fibre broadband recently and have been experiencing wifi dropouts on the 2.4ghz ssid ever since. the router runs version SG4K10002808t, since the first day, so i can't tell if it was any different on a different version.
we have a few devices on 5ghz and a few devices which can't do 5ghz, which we noticed kept losing connection every few days on the 2.4ghz SSID (which has a different SSID to the 5ghz) . ultimately i have to restart the router to reconnect devices to the 2.4ghz SSID .
the 5ghz connection has been pretty solid, and broadband has remained up as far as i can see.
i've tried changing the channel (1,6, auto,etc)
i've run wifi analyser to check for interference but that doesn't seem to be an issue, and we happy ran both 2.4ghz/5ghz on our previous huawei talktalk router without an issue.
thanks
VPN Issues
Hi,
I am having issues using VPN to access work from home.
I have tried resetting the router and have had no joy.
Please can you let me know what I can do next or any settings that need to be updated to solve this?
Thanks
