WiFi Performance Monitoring upsetting devices

Hi  /  

 

Please can you arrange for the WiFi Performance Monitoring Tool to be turned off on my line.  I use a network analysing tool and would prefer to choose the best channel myself.

 

I'm noticing that every time it changes the 2.4Ghz channel it upsets my wireless HP printer, plus if it selects channel 6, I find my Sonos starts playing up (probably because the of conflict with SonosNet).

Why is my speed being Throttled.

Hi TalkTalk Support / Forum Members,

 

I recently switch from sky where i was getting around 76mb on all my devices using speed test. On my new TalkTalk router i have an "Actual" downstream speed of 80mb, but all of my devices including 3 laptop which i have tested with cat5 cable connected directly to the router appear to be throttled to 65mb despit the 80mb downstream.

 

Initial speed tests Burst up to around 76mb and then throttle back to 65mb across all of my devices. Get the same result on all devices and running on several different speed test apps.

 

I tried contact their Technical support, which was a nightmare, as it took 20mins of repeating myself slowly to the African Customer Support agent who barely spoke English before eventually being put through to Technical support, but then found them to be the most useless support operatives i've ever come across, as i tried explaining that i was connected via cat5 cable and they didn't seem to know what i meant.

 

After 40mins of going round in circles trying to get some answers i gave up and put the phone down.

 

So if someone could please help and explain any reasons for being throttled, it would be much appreciated.

Everytime I raise an issue with my Fibre BB speed Talktalk support Team ask me to run their speed tester. I just read from support forum that this speed tester never works!!. Why on earth support is asking to run this again? I am confused??

I just tried again this URL and gets error saying "Unable to connect to a server at this time. Please try again later.". TalkTalk support never accepts results from any other speed tester. Whats going on ? I donot think they are not aware that site is down..but making us all Fools..?? This is terrible.

Internet Access through VPN Blocked

Hi, I have been with TalkTalk for a month.  The Router has been working fine and I have been connected to the internet via VPN.

Over the last few days whenever I have tried to connect to the internet with my VPN on the internet connection is blocked.  Turn off the VPN and it works again.

Its not a PC issue as it lets me connect through VPN using other WiFi.  It is only when I try to use the VPN with talktalk that it drops off.

I need the VPN for work and if this cannot be resolved I am going to have to look at moving from TalkTalk as the service is not fit for purpose.

On scouring this forum page it appears that there are many people who have had similar issues.

 

The router I am using is your new WiFi Hub.  It has worked for weeks but has only stopped over the last few days.

 

Any help much appreciated.

Good Morning,

 

So I've went live 10 January... First Day my speeds was 0.5 Mbs in the morning at 09:00 internet went down. So I speak with support live chat at 17:00 .. They fixed it.. during weekend I got speed around 35 Mbs.. (At least internet was working...)

 

Sunday afternoon I went to live chat again to speak about speed. They check my line and told that on my side all is great.. but problem is outside my building. So they arrange engineer from openreach. Next day monday morning, speed went up to 75Mbs.. few hours later engineer came to my house and say that he dont see any problems.. (Yeah.. from the morning speed are good somehow..) 

 

Okay so monday and tuesday all is perfect.. good speed no problems at all..

 

Then we got wednesday.. internet went down again.. and I don't have it till now thursday.. I've tried to contact live chat support wednesday at 20:00 but they said that they got problem with system and cannot help me .. Today 08:00 im trying to get to live chat again but its busy all the time...

 

6 Days - 2 Days slow speed (around 20-30 Mbs should be 70+), 2 Days No Internet at all only 2 good days.. As new customer, I expect more..

 

I there any chance for fix that? Or I need start to look for new provider?

New router and no can’t use Remote Desktop

Hello

 

I’ve recently been sent a new router and since then I’ve been unable to access my work computer via Remote Desktop.

I have tried TalkTalk help but they haven’t given me any help at all.

What can I do?

New customer here 

I am unable to stay online in second life with my new router (just installed today). it logs me in but after 2 minutes im booted out.. i feel that its the router as when i try it on my old virgin router im able to stay online. Im not very techy so any help or advice would be great

Brand new to TalkTalk, Facebook and Instagram apps won’t work on our phones with WiFi

Hi there

We joined Talk Talk 2 days ago, the internet appears to be working fine - we can watch bbc iPlayer for example, however whilst connected to WiFi if we try to use Facebook or Instagram whilst on our phones it will not load - any ideas what we can do to rectify this? Thank you. 

Fibre broadband

I have had three months of dropping broadband signals. The router drops out so many times a day and restarts itself and then does not connect to wired devices let alone WiFi.  How many times since mid October  I have spoken to technical help, by phone, chat, text and email I cannot count,  I have had enough of the ‘please wait 48hrs’ .

i am now getting an open reach engineer to visit.
I have paid myself for aerial Installers to check that side of the equipment and all’s good.  
I have paid monthly for a service I am not getting, I’ve had enough!

if the engineer does not fix this where do I go next?

Broadband well below contract speed and no resolution

I have been trying for more than a month to get an answer through the chat line as to why I can only get a max.of 43Mbs when my new contract is 57 average. I have been through all the checks and questions four times and nothing seems to happen once the chat ends. TalkTalk used to be contactable and at times even a phone call with an engineer. The offshore chat system has not worked for me and I cannot see how or where I can escalate the issue. Any ideas welcome. I have a new router and have followed advice on the postings.

Smart TV killed by fibre broadband

I have used a smart TV for years with TalkTalk providing broadband. In November TalkTalk 'upgraded' me to fibre broadband and my freeview channels immediately started to disappear intermittently and now - for several weeks - have disappeared altogether. TalkTalk have not been able to help on the phone and I am at a loss as to what to do. Please can someone offer advice / help?

TalkTalk speedtest has not been working for a few days now at least. This is something that needs escalating to the technicians. Tt is not my computer that is at fault. I am using Windows 10 latest version on two dfferent laptops. The problem exists on both of them and aso on bothFirefox nd MS Edge. Other speed tests are fne includng ones supplied by Ooklah, so this needs to corrected by TalkTalk.

TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub Rejecting connections

Hi,

I have a new TalkTalk Wi-Fi hub that I'm having trouble with. Various Smart Plugs, Smart lamps Mobile phones and Kindles will not connect to the Wifi, you can see them trying but the hub keeps refusing them. Some of the above will connect one day and then refuse to connect the next, others I just can't get to connect at all. If I use a wifi extender all items will connect to wifi and I don't have any issues. I've split the Wifi so there is no conflict between the 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz clients. The problems only occur for items stuck on the 2.4ghz band. 

 

Is anyone else having this sort of issue with this hub.

(WiFi Hub) Super router wi fi problems

Not had the super router long but noticed problems with phone saying its connected but no internet or it shows good signal but i still have no internet. Its a Huawei p8 lite 2017 running android 7. It works on other peoples wi fi and also if I turn the router off for 15 min and then back on then all is ok for a couple of weeks.

When I start having problems with that phone and start fiddling with the phone I then start having wi fi issues with a motorola G5s phone running android 8. 

It seems the Huawei picks up the issues first -- or just worse than the Moto.

I also have a samsung tab A 2019 on android 9 and that seems to also have issues but the thing is each device has the same problem but not at the same time as each other.  

Is it something to do with 2.4Hzs and 5 Hzs or channel switching.

 

As I understand it is not a good idea to keep turning the router off an on

As per multiple posts I'm unable to reserve DHCP addresses on a fresh new Sagemcom FAST 5364-3.T8 router.

 

Details:

SW version SG4K10001400t

HW Version - FAST5364 3.00

GUI Version - 1.152.6

 

Can I please request the version of firmware that enables this...

Fibre keeps dropping out

Hi all

 

Please could you help.

 

Downstream line rate was on speed of 39806 on router settings. It keeps dropping out, red light on router then re-connects back up.  Voice service is ok.

Can I use a HG635 Business router for home broadband?

Hi

My TT supplied router HG633 has (I believe) 100 mbps Ethernet connections.

my friend has offered a HG635 which  apparently has gigabit Ethernet, which will make my NAS more effective.

is it possible to use this HG635 router at home (with a firmware update??) or is it strictly for business only?
