Broadband Service Status

I am running a setup unchanged for over a year now but a while ago the sync speed dropped and more recently download performance has been variable.  Consequently I have just checked the service status, whcih came back with the following:

Birchcroft_1-1579534321171.png

The router shows an uptime of 133 hours and the stats for download look good, although the stats for upload are not as impresive, they are as follows:

So while the health check is showing stability issues and disconcents (even though uptime is 133 hours and I have not really  noticed any disconnects) it is also saying that it has tested the connection and there are no known faults.  So my question is are there any further tests that can be carried out to show what the problem may be and how to go about resolving it?

Slow throughput on a 40/2 circuit

Hi, Hopefully someone can help.

Im connected at 40mb with a max of around 60mb. My throughput will never be higher than 18mb though, wired or wireless, using multiple different sites/tools/devices. It’s been like this since upgrading to fttc.

I’ve tried leaving the router off for 30mins as suggested-no difference.

I’ve replaced the HG533 with the newest Wi-fi Hub, exactly the same.

It’s not my devices as I can see 74mb on 80mb circuits at a friends house.

Upgrade to Fibre

I have today signed up for an upgrade to fibre broadband, but I do not understand how it will be faster when, as I understand it, the cable from the street cabinet into my house will still be copper.   Won't there just be a bottleneck when it gets to the copper.    Or am I wrong, will they change the cable?

View traffic through router and/or data usage for each device?

I noticed a big spike in my data usage (using online tool) and want to find out where it's coming from however I cannot find any option on the router to view traffic or data usage. I have an unlimited fibre plan so the usage isn't a problem but I'd like to know which device is using additional data.

I just want to know if there is even a way to view traffic or data usage by device on the router?

Upload speed gone very slow

Hi,

A few days ago, my upload speed went down dramatically to about 0.2-0.3 Mbps. The download speed has remained constant at about 30-32 Mbps.

This means that if i upload any attachments for email/one drive etc, it will reduce the download bandwidth at the same time, so making use of the internet a painful task.

I have rebooted the router more than twice, checked the master socket, plugged in a network cable at source etc etc,   but I know the problem is not at my end nor is an issue with the line. I think the bandwidth ratio has changed on my profile at the exchange. I don't know the reasons why this may have been altered, but this is currently affecting my children's efforts to study at home.

Could you please investigate to see if I have been capped for upload for some reason.

Router is HG633. See also image of a speed test this morning. This is really unacceptable. Last night it actually went down to 0.17 Mbps.  Any slower and it would be quicker to walk it

Thanks

WiFi channels

Hi

My Sonos speakers had a lot of interference, it was suggested I changed the WiFi channel. I changed the channel per the Talk Talk steps and the speakers, and all other devices, were working perfectly. However, everyday my WiFi channel reverts itself back to channel 6 (the channel I don't want to be on as I can't use my Sonos speakers).

I have read elsewhere that the router is supposed to be "smart" and choose the best channel based on my devices and the interference which is why it resets itself. I do not wish my router to reset itself daily as the channels that work best for me are 1 or 11.

Any tips on how I can stop my WiFi channel reverting back to 6 daily?

Thank you.

PS I have tried using the app to ask my question to the technical team but my messages keep being read and then deleted!

HG635 SuperRouter WIFI problem

Starting to have problems with my HG635 router which I've had for a number of years now.

Usually it works OK and then for no apparent reason it stops transmitting its 5G channel (I have renamed this as suggested on the community here with a "5G" on the end so I can see what's happening) and I have two phones which have 5G, one of which I have a WIFI analyser app on so I know it's not just a phone problem.

If I turn the router off, wait and then turn it back on again it will transmit on 5G for several days until it decides to stop again!  (I checked this from standing within about 5 feet from the router so I know it's not just me being too far away distance-wise)

Logging into the router from a wired connection both the 2G and 5G channels are ticked as "on" and the internet is working on 2G or with the wired connection.  Unticking and ticking the 5G again doesn't solve the problem

I can only wonder whether this is either due to a firmware upgrade (not sure when that was last done) or the router is just getting old and starting to die

Has anyone else had this and can anyone help with a fix please

Unstable Connection

This is a strange one for me.

Had lots of drop outs of service going to the flashing orange light of doom on my Sagem Router. Christmas eve Openreach came out, suddenly it all started working. The guy replaced the master socket and 4 weeks of happiness with speeds of around 65mb/s happened

Then it stopped and kept dropping out again. Strangley i ring the house phone from my mobile and the internet works again. alternatively i use the house phone to ring 17070 and then it works again - but only for  few hours.

What is causing this? i don't use the house phone, i shouldn't need to. The only reason it came out of the box (recently moved) was for the openreach guy to do a line test, then it worked.

Any ideas?

Facebook Struggles to Load

When using Facebook on my Samsung mobile, it struggles to load most times. Very slow. Then there are times it doesn't load at all.

As soon as I switch wifi off and go on to mobile data, it loads really quickly.

I do not have a lot of data onmy phone contract but I have paid for an unlimited broadband contract that, it would seem, I am not able to use 😞

I do not have homesafe switched on.

Any help would be appreciated.

WiFi signal keeps droping

Have recently got a xbox one and my router really doesn't like it. I have had loads of issues with speed before and now the WiFi. Signal just drops out a lot when on xbox. Suggested that I change channels on router which I have done several time no change. Lost count how many times restarted router ipv6 doesn't work on my router when this is enabled won't connect to Internet. Talk talk is useless I have given up reporting faults because it never gets fixed for example my phone line has what I have been told by a bt engineer as a lick fault so I can't make or receive calls this has been there for 3 year's and I have even told them what and where whe fault is. Incompetent doesn't begin to sum up talk talk. I have given up and waiting for wnd of contract and will be rid.

Social media not working

Social media apps like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook now won't work on phones or PC. They all work fine inside my house when I switch to phone data only but not on the WIFI. I have researched and found lots of issues that people have reported -

https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Fibre-Broadband/Social-media-pages-don-t-load/m-p/2372741#M227034

https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Broadband/Problem-with-social-media-access/td-p/2374147

These are just a fraction so clearly some sort of issue here.

Steps taken so far:

- Checked that Homesafe isn't the issue

- rebooted everything - router/pc/laptop/phones

- Device is FAST 5364-3. T8

To add to that I'm now shown an error message when trying to access my account - "Sorry due to technical issues we can't log you in right now. Please try again later."

What is going on as I only switched to Talk Talk at the start of the year and already I've had 1 full day without Internet and now all social media won't work?

Need this resolved please.

Thanks

Adam

Upgrade to Fibre

Hi,

My upgrade to fibre happened this morning, all went well and I am delighted with the speed I am now getting.

Capture.JPG

So far so good...But in a chat on the forum the other day I was asking about the Router situation and was told that as I was upgrading from normal to fibre I would be entitled to a free Wi-Fi Hub and it would arrive before my new package went live...I have received no new router.

Could someone advise please...Am I getting a Wi-Fi Hub? If not why not? And if I am when will I receive it?

Many thanks

Daphne

Gfast not as advertised.

Hi there,

The 16th of January an openreach engineer installed the Gfast service. He checked the state of the cables coming into my property, and although he said he may had to change them as they were in a bad state, he performed a few tests and he decided otherwise.

Nevertheless, I have been testing the speed of the line and I can't reach 100mbs downstream. I am happy with upload but I am not getting the full potential of this technology.

Can anyone please explain why? All I am getting is 90-95 mbs. Thanks.

Unable to use Direct Access with Huawei HG633 Router

Good afternoon,

I work in IT Support for the local Authority and we use DirectAccess.

One of our customers, a local Councillor, is having the same trouble as described in this link:

https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/Fibre-Broadband/Direct-access-doesn-t-work/td-p/2368269

He is using the Huawei HG633 Router with firmware version h.1.01

I understand that the resolution is to swap out his router, could you confirm how we would go about doing this please? We've already tried calling in twice and using the live chat.

We've already tried replacing his laptop and have been out to troubleshoot at his home with additional devices, all are having intermittent connection issues.

our Direct Accessserver is working fine as no other users are having this trouble

Hub wont connect to network

The go live data for my fibre broadband was meant to be monday, but since plugging the hub in all it has done is flash orange (with ocassional white and orange flashes). I've talked to the live team countless times who have just taken me in circles checking the same things (and often ignoring me altogether). I am unable to call to speak to a technician as whenever I type the landline number as requested, the automated system does not recognise it (it is definitely the right number). I have had the face plate off the master socket and I cant even see any wires in there that the hub would even be connecting t,o so am starting to doubt whether we even have the correct wiring to the house. If this isn't resolved soon, I am cancelling the direct debit!
