No speed increase after boost

I have just signed up for another 24 month contract with talktalk. Been with talktalk for years now never had any problems until now

When I signed up I was informed that I could be upgraded to super fast fibre. I was told that it would be activated within 24 h but it wasn't. Five live Chats later and I still have no more speed than before my ping has gone up from 12 to 22 my average speed used to be 36/38 with no problems whatsoever now after the boost my speed is 36 and drops to around 22 intermittently

Hope someone can help I was promised min 50meg

Thanks

Broadband problem

Recently we signed up for the faster fibre for 18 months. Since signing up our internet has been hit and miss.

It regularly slows down and also stops working.

Today the internet went altogether and the landline wasn’t working either.

The service centre has flags on ‘your stability’ and ‘your line speed’. What should I do now?

Restricting wifi access via MAC addresses

Have recently got the new FAST router.

I was setting up to restrict 2Ghz wifi access to my devices via their MAC addresses - Allow ones in the list.

I committed a list of 6 devices but realised that I had missed one off the list. So I went back and allowed all devices to connect. However the device I forgot to add cannot now access the router on 2Ghz but can still on 5Ghz. Is there a bug?

I also tried to restore the configuration via a backup I made recently but this just seems to hang.

Any Ideas

Chris

Here we go yet again! Fibre down now speeds halved and patchy.

Had our fibre speeds fixed last summer. Took months to sort out and won compensation for the months of trouble caused. Now today our internet went right off. Then when it came back on speeds have dropped under half what they normally are. As you can see from the pictures provided. Speeds are normally around 66MB up and 16MB down. Today they have dropped to around 30MB down and 0.8MB up and connection is very patchy on and off with speeds fluctuating from just 4MB to 25MB. Paying for 76MB. Everything in the house was new last August. Senior Engineer fitted everything new inside the premises. TALKTALKDECEMBER2019.JPGTALK TALK NOW.JPG

Speed boost please please help

I called TalkTalk on the 21st of December 2019 to see when my contract was up.

The loyalty team offered me a better deal effectively told me I could keep exactly the same speed as I was getting but save myself £8 per month.

Well needless to say the renewal did not exactly go according to plan they cut my broadband off effectively with my guaranteed speed of 0 mbps.

My complaint was raised with the ceo's office back in December and after speaking with one of the higher managers  yesterday in the CEO office and being told that the speed boost could now be reapplied. I'm just curious how long this will take as I used to get 77 mbps right up untill my contract was renewed. I have been given credits etc from the CEO office and am now just waiting for the speed boost to go active.

After 33 days of 0 mbps I now have 39 which I have been told will increase to at least 67. I just wanted to check this has been added correctly and wanted to know when the speed will increase. The manager of thr CEO office is due to call again Monday.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Simon

Hi all

just sharing some info

I set up my Filtering to stop access to pron/gambling.. blah blah and file sharing 'sites'. Not thinking this would impact on me

Till I tried to get into a OneDrive folder. No luck.. did some research on it and someone suggested turning off a filter in their router.. I don't have that on my router but it got me thinking.. Kidsafe settings.

Filesharing; prevented. took that off and bingo.. access!

Might put it back on if i can sort out what to ut in the 'allow' boox

might help others. 🙂

Wi Fi Dropping For Days On and Off - but worse now

My wired PC is ok - thankfully (although slower) - but wi-fi to phone and tablet for me and my son is going off more and more over the last few days... for ages
seems ok for an hour, or so, in the mornings and then goes off, as it is now.
The lights are all on on the router.
I see others on the website 'Down Detector' are having similar problems.

Disappointing speed drop.

My Fibre has dropped from 38mbs to 29mbs.  So, of course my wifi has dropped too.  TT used to have a handy chat or email link but they seem to have dropped that as I can't find either.  How are others doing?  If this is the best they can do, I will have to move.  Luckily my contract is up soon.

router dropping connection.. what should i expect?

Hi all

just got my first fibre broadband and generally pleased esp with the speed.. However in the two days i have had it.. the connection has dropped three times.. more than the whole of the previous year on the older conventional 10Mbs (it was with a different supplier but not convinced it would have been different with others either)

I'm getting looks of 'what have you done' from the better half.

before jumping to any conclusions i'd like some other perspective on what to expect and compatibility with my stuff and the amount of connected devices (cabled or WiFi)

It's a shock when you log in to your router and find there are devices connected!  There may be more possibly.. is there a limit here? Tablets/phones/heating thermostat/door bell/ TT TV box.. Easily forgotten how many.

I have three devices going through one port off the router into a Powerline device.. do these upset the Superfast  routers? It has been ok for the past 10 years on older routers. The powerline system is 100Mbs rather than 1Gb.

My Drayton MiGenie thermostat uses a gateway box plugged into the router by cable.

Do these New router need a settling in time or should they work without issues?

Don't really know what to expect here.

Your views on the setup? Any help or pointers appreciated

For a couple of weeks now I have been experiencing loss of internet connection. iPads, laptops, desktops, google home hub & nest thermostat all lose connection for a few minutes then reconnect again.

tried resetting to factory settings and testing but still the same.

it’s a HG633

Hardware version:
H.1.01
Software version:
v2.00t
it seems more that I’m losing internet connection more that WiFi connection to the router.

DSL up internet down

Hi, I'm in the Midlands. Internet went down an hour or so ago. DSL is up no internet.

I tried it with my spare router. No change.

I went to my account test line and it said" there is a problem and we need to talk to you"

Click chat now and it says too busy try later 😂

I really would rather not anyway.

Anyone else got problems?

WiFi Hub connection issues

A few weeks ago, I got the WiFi Hub - much better range and speed. However, the problem is certain devices keep being disconnected (i.e. "connected but no internet"). For the PC, I can reconnect by running some command prompts.

This happens for a desktop PC, mobile phones (over WiFi) and also for wired devices (such as TV). Is there potentially a fault with the router??

Router password requirements

Hello!

I tried to change the default wifi password with a stronger one, but the router says it doesn't meet the requirements. I am pretty sure it meets all the requirement for an actual secure password (unlike the default one). Does anyone know the requirements so I can do it?

Thanks!

My router keeps dropping internet on WiFi

Hi

I have been a Talk Talk customer for many years and still have my original HG533 router,  it has alway been fine until about 6 months ago when randomly when connected to WiFi the connection, although stable, would have no internet.

This happens on mobiles, tablets and laptop, when on my phone I have to switch to mobile data to be able to browse or watch videos.

This happens randomly throughout the day and I have rebooted everything and refreshed my connections but nothing changes.

Now I may be a bit cynical here but this all started around the same time that when I did a system/line check, I started getting the message "You appear to be using one of our older routers, it might be time to upgrade"

When I click on any links it takes me to the store page where TalkTalk want to charge me over £100 for a new updated router!

Surely, being a customer for at least 7 or 8 years on Large fibre entities me to a free upgrade to my router? This current issue with the WiFi is becoming a real issue within the household and its driving us mad!

What can I do?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Simon
