Just recieved the new router

I recently renewed my contract, and today I got a parcel from Yodel, the new router, when I renewed my contract there was no indication I would be sent a new router.

I am quite obsessive in how much control I have over my router, can anyone confirm that I am able to disable remote management (ACS) aka TR-069 and also wi-fi on the new router, or are all these settings now disabled in the firmware of the Sagecom?

TalkTalk do not help with my problem

I have tried three times to get help from TalkTalk. They only refer me to Microsoft and that is not the problem?

I occasionally get a flash which reads

cm3gb1 smtp.talktalk.net ESMTP server not available

I can receive emails but not send them. It is a TalkTalk problem!.

I do not find TalkTalk very helpful.

Speed Drop since yesterday's maintenance

Please could I seek some assistance. Since last night (29th Jan) my broadband download speed has dropped from an average 35/36 Mbps to around 31/32 Mbps yet my upload speed has increased from an average 6 Mbps to about 8 Mbps.

Last night during the early hours I lost my connection for at least 4 hours, and the TalkTalk My Account was unavailable whilst 'essential maintenance' was being carried out, and it is since then that my speed has dropped.

A coincidence? Maybe.

Anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Track order - faster fibre upgrade

Hi! I upgraded to faster fibre four days ago - as I remember it said the service would go live within 48 hours? Still waiting.

I received an email saying I could track the order through My Account on the website - I don't seem to be able to find the option to do that, although it does look like I'm being billed for it.

Speed boost

Hi I’ve just upgraded my broadband to the super fast 59mb to 73mb I’ve done a speed test and Ian not getting the minimum speed guaranteed.

I have done a line check with TalkTalk and it says I should be capable of reaching speeds up to 73 mb any  ideas why I’m  not getting the speeds guaranteed?

Any help appreciated !

Speed boost not reaching expected upload speed.

I renewed my contract on 27 January and was given a speed boost to superfast fibre. There was no increase in speed for the first couple of days so I had an online chat with an advisor who told me the issue would be investigated. A few hours later I received an email to say the issue had been resolved. I carried ou a speed test which showed upload speed had nearly doubled, but download remained about the same as I had been getting previously, about 30 mb over wifi. This morning I checked my service status Line Speed which showed. Estimated 49 - 80 mb. Actual 38 mb. Could this be investigated please?

Hi My son is trying to get TT firbre speed boost and after the post code check he gets this message;

Important Information:

Sorry, our Fibre Speed Boost isn’t available. So you don’t pay for something you can’t use, we’ve removed it from your basket. You’ll still enjoy a fast, reliable connection on Faster Fibre though.

Why cant he get the speed boost thing i dont understand?

Questions about FTTC before upgrading from ADSL on TalkTalk

$

Hi I saw the offer for FTTC internet for under £22 for 24 months. The account holder is quite interested in upgrading.

I had some questions to ask on it on TalkTalk Live chat , but I didn't seem to get any new information that I didn't already know. I also got some conflicting information that slightly confused me too.

I thought I'd ask the forum here , as I used to post here many years ago , about a problem (Which still sort of hasn't been resolved . But might go away if I switch to FTTC) I had , and found the community forum OCEs more knowledgeble than the call centre.

These are the questions I asked on Live Chat. I didn't get any new information or straight answers I didn't know there , I'd appreciate it if you could give me more info if you can.

1. When does the offer for Faster Fibre / Super Fast Fibre (For under £22 for 24 months) end ? Does it end soon ? We are thinking of upgrading soon .

2. Is my phoneline/ Area capable of getting FTTC  ?

The person on live chat gave me the impression (well rather told me straight after checking my address/post code ) that FTTC is not available in my area/phoneline . (I would have thought most areas of London would be capable of receiving FTTC)

But I am confused as when we log into our account , it does give us the option to upgrade to Faster Fibre.

So what would happen in the situation we are sold a FTTC contract , but our area /phoneline is not capable of the upgrade. Are we at fault , or do we get refunded ?

Whenever I do an availability checker on the talktalk my account site when logged in with our account , it always forwards me to a page where it shows me your recommended package is ADSL with the current speeds I am getting. (Which also confuses me more , whether FTTC is availible in my area or not , as it appears in the available offers when logged into our account)

Please check for me if you can. (I got the impression the person on Live Chat wasn't completely sure of themselves on some answers)

This forum account is associated with the same talktalk number/address  I reported a fault on the first time I interacted with this forum.

If you are unsure I will send the details via a private message if you need to.

I want to makesure we can get FTTC on our phoneline/ address before I order it.

3. Do we get a router/modem when we upgrade to FTTC internet ? Does it come with the upgrade , or do we have to pay separate ? Does the router come with 4 ethernet ports and wireless ?

4. How long do we have to wait to be switched over from ADSL to FTTC once the order is made. Do we have to wait a matter of days or weeks ?

5. For over a decade we've always had a fault that , neither talktalk or openreach could ever find whenever we did report . We just gave up and just lived with it , since nobody could ever find it.

It seems to affect stability and speeds sometimes when it's acting up.  Also speeds in general seem quite poor in general whenever I compare to other people's ADSL , even within the same area. ( Especially upload speeds)

( And I am pretty sure it's not inside the house or in the property , as we already tried to rectify those things the brought up those faults on the forum. I am fairly sure the fault is somewhere on the outside on the way to the cabinet or exchange , but was never found , since the nature of the fault has always been quite variable . Picking the phone also seems to have an effect on the connection , despite all sockets being micro filtered. Sometimes connection is lost while doing so on bad days. State of weather also seems it might be a problem too.)

I am afraid this fault could affect us getting any gains in speed/stability after switching from ADSL to FTTC. (Although there is a possiblity the change from FTTC might get rid of the problem , since some of the line is being switched to Fibre)

Will you be able to help us resolve this if the speeds seem very poor for FTTC  after the upgrade?

(Although my fault from a decade ago , was never fully resolved when joining this forum and still appears on my line now and again even nowadays)

I am pretty sure we aren't that far from the telephone exchange.

Thanks if you can answer any of these.

I only really need answers to the simpler questions at the moment.

I hope to swtich from ADSL to FTTC soon if possible before the offer ends.

Faster fiber upgraded but no internet ever since

Hi upgraded to faster fiber from broadband. My go live date was 29th Jan but ever since I've had no internet connection. I'm using a hg 523a router which I was told was compatible with fiber but in the router settings I get the message no sync and your router isn't connected to the service. What's happening? Is my router too old to handle fiber? I work from home so I need the internet

Wi-Fi channel keeps changing

Hi,

I have been having troubles recently with my WiFi reception and I asked my local friend to look at this . When he came round he said that there are an awful lot of router networks that he picked up in my lounge & set my Wi-Fi hub to use channel 1, as that was about the best he could achieve.

Despite being set to this dedicated channel, it does keep moving around to different channels. He thinks this is because the interference seen near the router's location in my property is nowhere near as bad as in my lounge.

Please can you disable the Wi-Fi Optimisation that I assume is running on my router?

Thanks very much.

Well below contract fibre speed

I know this has been raised before, so sorry about this. Just joined talk talk and taken on faster broadband. Guaranteed 57mbps however at best hitting 25.3 down and 16.7up. Spent an hour on the live chat only for the agent to close this down through lack of interest, then spoke on phone to another agent who rebooted the system and then suggest I call him back tomorrow!.

25.3 download speed is dreadful and far from the guaranteed limit. We only have two mobiles and iPads connected. Children have left home so no live streaming, downloading or gaming, only two of us surfing the net/online shopping etc. BB speed seemed faster with my previous supplier and that wasn’t fibre. As I said to the agent, it all works but it’s painfully slow. Any help would be most welcome. Btw, go live date 29 Jan 20. Many thanks in advance.

Unable to access a working URL from TalkTalk Network - Deferred here by Support Agent

Hi,

Looking for some help after very little success with the online support agents.

I have two domains which I host on a dedicated server with tsohost.com, these have worked fine for a number of years and been accessible from TalkTalk until I believe last weekend when I could not access them over HTTP/FTP/SMTP. After 3 separate sessions totalling almost 6 hours with the online support agents they have deferred me here as unable to resolve the issue.

  • Domains are all up and running and accessible outside of the TalkTalk network
  • I’ve attempted to connect using multiple apps/devices from my home network but no joy
  • I do not have kid/family safe or any filtering enabled
  • Router/devices have alll been rebooted a number or times
  • First two incidents with the support agents did result in connectivity being restored but they couldn’t advise how, third time they could not resolve
  • The main hosting tsohost.com also appears to be inaccessible even though up and accessible outside of TalkTalk

Assuming this is just some sort of IP range block or DNS issue but would be great if someone here could assist with resolving.

Many thanks

Not achieving guaranteed broadband speed

New to talk talk 29 Jan 20. Purchased faster fibre with a 57mbps guaranteed. Only achieving 25.7 download and 16.1 upload. Despite trying to resolve via live chat (agent decided to cut the chat) and a telephone agent, despite rebooting suggested I call back another day. Problem remains the same. I know I have a 30 day grace period whereby I can leave without any penalty, I’d rather resolve this. To recap, the broadband works, it’s just painfully slow and no where near achieving the guaranteed minimum. We only have two iPads and two phones and our use is low, no downloading or gaming etc (kids have grown up and left). Despite this even the basic news surfing is pa8nfully slow. Can someone please help? Thanks in advance

Is my Fibre running okay?

switched to fibre from standard mid-December and I don't see any real improvement in service. If anything experiencing 'drop outs' when casting Now TV to Smart TV which never happened with standard broadband, even Netflix seem a little more sluggish. have rebooted router, performed full switch off of router for 40min/hour, just wondered if everything looks to be running okay? (have factory reset chromecast also)

This is the third time posting as previous posts have gone missing!. New customer, not receiving guaranteed fast fibre speed 57mbps only receiving 25.3 at best. Broadband is working no problem, just excessively slow. No downloading or gaming (kids have left home) only surfing, media and online shopping. Two iPads and two phones attached. Can someone please help?, thank you

Last week I upgraded to super-fast fibre. But this happened…..

My speeds (Mbps)

Before upgrade:

Download 36.5

Upload 9.6

After upgrade:

Download 36.6 (tested 10 times over 10 days – this is the average, using TT and Google tests)

Upload 18.6

I signed up on the promise of:

<73.6 > and <55.6 > Mbps with minimum guaranteed download speed is <50.6 > Mbps

Tech team has no idea why it has not improved.

Why would upload improve, but not download?

There has been no change to my equipment.

Feels like someone did not flip the switch somewhere.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks
