I believe we have a faulty router or the power cable is faulty. Can we get a new router? And are there any additional charges

Fibre Speed Boost not giving minimum speed promised

$

I was told that my guaranteed minimum download speed is 44.6mbps. I never get more than 36mbps. I have now had 3 extremely lengthy online chats - each one going through all the same tests - but nothing has changed. In December I was told that - "Under our speed code of practice, we have 30 calendar days to make improvements. If after 30 days we can’t improve your service we will notify you by email of your right to cancel your contract without any termination fees."

Nothing happened!!

Today, I have been informed that my line has been re profiled and I should keep an eye on it for the next 48 hours, then get back in touch if no improvement. That was 6 hours ago. So far no change.

Is this common?? It's very frustrating.

Hi, I just installed my new talktalk wifi hub. it's working fine. However I would like to know where or how to update the firmware.

I see it's something talktalk can do themselves, is this possible for me too pls?

Speed Boost Query

Hi,

I recently decided to switch providers from talktalk and earlier today I received a phone call from them saying that they could double my speed at no extra cost. I currently get between 15-30mb download and the guy I spoke to said it would go up to between 36-60mb with a minimum of 32mb.

However, I’m unsure how this is possible as the fastest speed I can get at this property is 30mb (according to BT dsl line checker). I queried this with the guy on the phone and he said it’s because there is some new technology that allows for faster speeds and he didn’t really understand how it works as he’s “not an engineer”.

It sounds a bit too good to be true to me? Would somebody be able to look into this for me? Or has anybody else on here had a similar experience? Double speed would be great but I’m worried I’ve just been had over by a load of sales waffle!

Cheers

I'm thinking of switching to TalkTalk Superfast Fibre. can I use my own router/modem?

I have a Draytek Vigor 2862 router/modem.

If I switch to TalkTalk Superfast Fibre, can I use that?

Many thanks in advance.

Understanding Sync Speeds

So as the title suggests, I’m wondering if someone can help me understand my speeds a bit better...

Actual Rate [Kbps]Maximum Rate [Kbps]Noise Margin [dB]Attenuation [dB]Power [dBm]

244173818
240453818
5.305.50
27.700.00
12.106.90

So looking at the above, my actual rate is higher than my max rate, and my noise margin is 5.3. Does this mean that my speed could be higher? Does the fact that my actual is higher than my max mean that my current sync speed could be higher?

My speed estimate is between 15-30mbps so I’m happy with my speed at the min but if it could be higher then I’d take that! Every little helps and all that!

Thanks in advance

if some nice person could help here please,

I have just upped to fibre broadband, which of course for the last 3/4 mile is copper wire in the air...

Now if I now go for Superfast Fibre will it ALL be fibre optic into the house and up to 67mb's?

Anyone confirm this for me.

best regards

Just got connected and find I have a problem

Hi all. So I've just got connected and the install went well

However I have just found out through here in the community that the Sagemcom router that's been supplied cannot be put into bridge/modem only mode so I can run it through my Asus AC1900.

As it stands the service will be no good to me.

Can a different router or modem be sent out to me or is best that I just cancel the contract (14 day period) and look elsewhere which I don't want to have to do.

Thanks

Poor connection issues

Hi,

I've been having poor connection issues and have run a few traceroutes which produced bad results (between 200ms to 500+ms.

I've tried rebooting my laptop, games console and router, but no change.

TalkTalk Support please investigate and if you need a copy of my traceroute result please let me know.

Thanks.

VPN use on D-Link DSL-3782

Hello

Apologies, I know this issue keeps appearing quite regularly in this forum but the usual response is to start a new request and either:

- get the latest firmware upgrade for the D-Link DSL-3782 router, or

- request a Huawei HG633 router from TALK TALK (which Dept.?)

Can anyone please help with either of the above?

Are there any good articles with setting up a router for use with PureVPN?

Thanks

Chris

Slow fibre broadband speeds

Hello i previously made an inquiry into slow fibre speeds.

I did what was recommended to change the wireless channels personally I think it made my connection even slower I changed back to the default settings.

I also waited 14 days for the connection to stable out but no change I renewed my contract under the impression I was getting a better deal but my speeds are still failing to push above what was promised.

Status cannot identify my router.

I have the Huawei HG633 router that I was supplied with when I signed up for TalkTalk, it even has the TalkTalk logo stamped on it. Why can't the status page identify a router YOU supplied?

Router restarting

OCE please

Hi,

my router has been restarting virtually every 24 hours. All the stats look good and there has been improvements in speed. I did a service test on the website which detected a fault.

NB in December an openreach engineer came to my house and said definitely no issues here, but he showed me a photo of junction box on the telegraph pole which was full of ice. He said any issues will remain until this box renewed. As far as I can tell the work hasn’t been carried out. Not sure if this could impact on my router restating/ the ‘fault’. Could this be checked out please.

thanks

Faster Fibre Speed Boost not working

$

I upgraded to Faster Fibre with Speed Boost on 28/01/20. I was promised a minimum speed of 57MB download and 17MB upload. I have the new hub but I am only getting the same speed as before getting the boost, 36MB download and 9MB upload.

I have chatted to 4 different agents, going through the same tests but still no joy. My Hub needs the firmware updating but it always fails when they try remotely. I can see that the hub is only getting 40MB and it says in my account I am only getting 40MB. I have tried switching the hub off for 30 minutes but it makes no difference at all.

What can I do?

Thanks for any help

Orange light flashing on router

I’ve just recently had the fast fibre broadband installed (approx 3-4 weeks ago) but there seems to be a problem. A couple of days ago the orange light started flashing on the router and we have lost internet access. Our devices are still saying they are connected but can’t browse etc. I’ve tried switching the router off and back on again and also pressing the factory reset button but the flashing orange light is still there. I’ve plugged a land line phone in and that seems to be working ok. I’ve checked to make sure everything is plugged in properly still which it is. I haven’t moved the router since it’s been installed. I suspect there might be an issue with the router? I’ve read a couple of other posts which seems to suggest this. Any help would be great.
