Very Poor Faster Fibre Speeds

$

After changing to faster fibre back in November we have consistently had problems. A talk talk engineer visited to check our set up and confirmed all was ok so organised an engineers visit from Open Reach. He found problems with the outside telephone line and whatever he did the speed improved to match what we are paying for. Over the last week the speed has dropped and the router has been dropping out on occasions - after the open reach visit we were getting on average a download speed of approx 14 Mpbs, however for the past 7 days we are only averaging a speed of 3.5 Mpbs. I am fed up with phoning your support as they always want to just talk through a script that we have talked through many times. All we want is a faster fibre speed that we are paying for. Please help

Slow WiFi with TalkTalk WiFi Extender

I have purchased the current TalkTalk extender as I am getting dropouts in the front lounge (TalkTalk superhub is in back bedroom, thick stone walls). However, when the extender is plugged in and switched on, the speed drops in the lounge from 28Mb to 3Mb or even 0.5Mb. If I switch the extender off, I get speeds back up again. I don't have any other kit connected.

3 lights on the extender are solid green when it's switched on.

I've tried logging on to the router and switching WiFi channels to AUTO, but it hasn't made a difference. I've set the 5G to a different SSID if that makes a difference. Can anyone offer any help please?

ORDI request, moving home ...

Hi,

I am moving home shortly (new build in a different geographic area) and wish to transfer my broadband services (not telephone number).

Unfortunately my new postcode/address is not showing up on the Openreach availability checker. However, the TalkTalk address finder locates the property but when confirming says sorry, something went wrong!

I am led to believe an ORDI request has to be sent to Openreach to update their database. Any assistance in helping me move this forward would be very much appreciated.

Help getting my Talk Talk Installed

I ordered TT fibre broadband and telephoneover nearly three weeks ago. I received an order confirmation email with an installation appointment and go live date for today, 7 February.

On Wednesday, 5 February, I received an email and a text from TT saying that the engineers are coming today to install phone and broadband, and if I didn't let them know by 4 o'clock yesterday I would be charged.

I have received neither my welcome pack nor my router despite making contact with about this TT customer service, and the agent told me that they would be sent. .

I rang today after 1.00pm to find out if my appointment was going to happen and was told that the installation was not going to go through because the order had been cancelled. When I asked when and why and as my online account says differently an excuse was made about voice setup security not being finished . I obviously asked when this was requested and how it could be done as I don't have a line in yet no answer was forthcoming.
As I was not getting anywhere with the international agent I requested being transferred to the UK installation department so I can try and get better success . The agent tried and was said she struggling so as my phone battery was getting low I requested a call back from them which never happened.
I waited 45 minutes logged onto the account and noticed the account page had been changed (lucky for me I had copied the page before with no problems listed lol)in the meantime to contact another number as there was a problem with the fibre installation.
I contacted this number (unfortunately the same international call centre) and went through all the procedures again and was told that I had to cancel and reorder everything again as the order had a problem?
I refused to cancel and requested that my problem be escalated and I be transferred to the next level of management to be resolved as this situation was unacceptable
I was told that no one is available so I insisted on a phone number for me to contact myself note 0345 number? so not holding much hope

I lose my current services next week so wondered if anyone knows how to overcome this dreadful  problem quickly

TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub firmware update

Hi,

I just got connected 24 hours ago, my speed with BT was 50Mbs but now I'm getting only 44.8. Also my hub firmware is outdated (SG4K10001400t) - I have found that latest one is  (SG4K10002808t). Could you please update my hub and check the speed issue (as your hub is much newer than my old BT hub I expected more than 50Mbs...)

Kind regards

Michal

Hi all,

I am looking for some assistance following an internal fault which has brought my broadband speeds down from 42Mb/s down to 20Mb/s.

I cleared the internal wiring fault over a week ago but my speed has not returned to where it was.

Do you have any ideas what I should try now?

I am certain my connections are good (electrician).

many thanks for your assistance.

Unable to Reserve Local IP address onTalkTalk hub( FAST 5364-3. SG4K10001400t)

Hi There,

I have had a problem with my router. I did ask for a replacement and got it today, Thank you.

However, it seems that I cannot reserve IP addresses locally on my network no more. The button is just gone. I used to have it on my previous hub. But it is not there anymore!

Current router info:

Hardware VersionSoftware VersionGUI Version

FAST5364 3.00
SG4K10001400t
1.152.6

The other issue I have got is, my download speed substantially lowered compared to the beginning of the contract. I have noticed this during the last few months. I used to be on 65Mbps now I am on 53.9Mbps at the best time of the day. I was hoping this to be a hardware issue but it seems the new hub does agree with the old (faulty) one.

Your help and support is much appreciated in advance.

Kind regards

Amir

EA FIFA Server Routing

Hello I am stuck in a bit of an issue where my in game speed is terrible in FIFA and both EA and Talk Talk seem to say its the others fault.

I have done everything possible and EA made me run a trace route to their server and said the ISP is not routing it correctly and hence this causes the delay. Do I believe them, not really but is there anyway to change this?

I have wired connection, open ports etc etc all the normal stuff below is my trace results, missing my IP address. As you can see there are several unknown with a high Ping time, any idea anyone its doing my head in. Only thing left is to leave Talk Talk and try another provider but would rather not but if its only thing left to try I will have to.

Hi all,

I have ordered the Talktalk wifi extender kit (powerline) and have a couple of questions. Will I be able to add an additional extender in the future should the need arise, if so, will it have to be a talktalk one or will a universal one be OK.

Thanks.

Not Faster Fibre - TalkTalk measured Speed Today: 80 Mb but ACTUAL speed around 28 - 33mbps

Your Speed to your Router  (according to Talk Talk)

Estimated Speed: 72 Mb - 80 Mb, Measured Speed Today: 80 Mb

My actual speed tests range from 28mbps to 33mbps for the past couple of days.  It has been slowing for some time but I didn't have the will to do anything about it until now.

My router is a Huawei-HG633 and its software is up to date.

Historical tests shown below.

I clear my browsing data regularly and reset the router from time to time but the speed hasn't improved.

Intermittent faster fibre broadband

My faster fibre broadband keeps dropping out since yesterday. It will connect and then a few seconds later, the connection is lost. At the moment I have no connection, but the light on the router shows white, so all should be ok. Not sure what to do...

Downloads speed ok, but web pages so SO slow to load...

I've been looking through this site and see this is a very common complaint.

I had an HG633 and complained via chat. I plugged in my own Netgear D6400 and same problem (but at least my connection stopped dropping out). I was sent a new Sagemcom Fast 5364 and while the wifi range was better, the internet was still glitchy, dropping out and still slow to load pages and pictures. I complained again via chat, and was sent another Sagemcom, and I'm still having the same problem.

I can use only wifi as my master socket is in an inconvenient place for wired connection. I'm experiencing this on my Windows PC, Chromebook, iPad and android phone. And while using Firefox, IE and Chrome

As I said, I've read many posts from people complaining about the same issue, and I think it's either an issue with the routers own Beamforming or MU-MIMO software that is creating a delay, but I've also read that TalkTalk uses some sort of WiFi Optimisation on the line that only they can turn on and off.

What ever it is, even with my average speed of 25Mb, I'm really tired of tapping on a link and having to watch a little wheel spin while TalkTalk figures out what to do.

Can you PLEASE get my internet access to be consistent and dependable.

Is there any point in getting my router firmware updated from V1.10t to V1.13t ?

If so - could it please be done ?

I have "remote management" enabled

Thanks

I have recently moved to faster fibre expecting the web pages to turn quicker, this does not happen, still as slow as ever. What should I expect from faster fibre.

Slow Webpages When Uploading Files

$

We pay extra for the faster fibre package on top of the normal fibre package.

We usually get 36mb down & 4.5mb up.

When I upload files our download seems to get penalised. Webpages go all slow & videos have to buffer.

What the hell is going on? I've suspected this for years but it has happened 3 times this week when I have left files overnight to upload 30gb. The overnight upload flies but the daytime upload slows down our normal internet...

Today I'm using a different method to upload to google drive to see if that makes a difference incase talktalk has some issue with large http upload traffic. I'm now using a program called transmit. Our Talktalk hub is the latest & is all connected via ethernet cable. The only time we have issues is when uploading files.

If this rubbish upload service continues though I'll be taking you guys to the small claims court for breach of contract as we are paying a premium and getting garbage.

Connection issues

Hi, Recently I've noticed a lot of disconnects on my on my 5364 router (the light will start flashing with connectivity drop. The router is connected directly to the master socket so there should be no issues with that. Looking at my stats the connection is showing with a maximum of 67mb with an actual of 59mb

stats.png

multiple speed tests return a real world result of closer to 51mb. considering I'm roughly 250m from the cabinet I would expect much better speeds than this + the constant disconnects are rather frustrating.

ditance.png

I'd guess the DLM has reduced my speeds because of the connection drops. Could this be looked into?

Thanks

Faster fibre interleaving and errors

$

For the last few months my interleaving has increased as has the error rate mainly on the upstream.

Before I came to talk talk I was almost always on fast path with BT etc, but I suppose with Talktalk selecting a more stable setting I can expect some interleaving.

My max attainable sync usually stays around 90mbits/s downstream and 25-30 upstream but with Talktalk's error correction and interleaving my connection is usually in the high 60 to 70mbit/s.

I have tried changing routers a couple of times but to no effect.

Interleaving of 298 and RSCorrectable errors on the upstream from 5 to 300% is new.

Downstream interleaving is 1277 and even when my connection has been up for over a month without a disconnection it has stuck here.

The Downstream RSCorr is fine at well below 1% - 0.0278% just now.

The upstream correction and interleaving are what's really troubling and yes I use gigabit Lan cables for all testing and monitoring.

No broadband - Router says cable disconnected

$

Hi there,

Phone line is working but broadband is not. Chatted to an engineer and we went through all the usual checks including connecting to the master socket.

My router says says the internet status is “disconnected”. I tried a different router and that also does not work, saying the same “cable not connected“ error.

TalkTalk chat said they thought it was a faulty router (and are sending a new router), but I’m not convinced as two different routers have a similar error message.

Anyone else had the same problem???

Thanks in advance.

Rob
