Talktalk Fibre - Fluctuating speeds
Hi OCE's
Looking for a little help. I've had talktalks FTTC service for just over 12 months, 12 months that have been practically trouble free, apart from the odd little problem. But more recently I have been noticing a fluctuation in my connection speeds. Normally my line holds at aound 16-17 MBPS, but yesterday it dropped to around 4mbps. This morning (saturday) it was upto 11mbps. Thisafternoon, it dropped out to 4.5mbps. After a few restarts of my router, and disconnecting devices, its back up to around 11-12 mbps.
Is there any reason why it would start to do this ? and is there anyway to get it back to the 16-17mb that I have been getting until recently ?
Many
thanks.

Continual saga of variable speeds (up and down) and high pingh and latency.
Reported problems 3 weeks ago. Did all the various online, in house checks.
Had a TalkTalk engineer out and he could see the fault but could not find any root cause.
Escalated to BT openreach engineer.
BT engineer arrived. He could see the fault but could not see or find any root cause.
Escalated back to Talk Talk as BT engineer reckoned there was something wrong with Talk Talk infrastructure.
Talk Talk now have no where to go apart from back to BT.
Table below shows high ping times.....1559ms ...lol.
Just uploading a 1mb file to Youtube and it's taken 3 hours so far and it's 25% complete. Pointless exercise.

Can firmware be updated?
I have an HG633 router which I understand has firmware version 1.15. Is it possible for this firmware to be updated to the latest version?
Talktalk never respond to my complaints about wifi speed.
I had fibre large installed on 26th January 2016 and was given an estimated speed of 76mpbs - 80mbps with guaranteed 72mbps. Since the installation i have been getting around 16mbps download and 18mbps upload speeds according to www.supportal-test.co.uk. I have rung Talktalk three times in the last fortnight getting through to an indian call centre each time. I explain my problem and am made to go through the usual useless checks ... take front off of telephone socket connect to test port, run speed test with ethernet connected to pc/laptop, answer whether there is any noise on line etc etc. I am then told the fault has been reported and I will get a callback. Afterwards I get a text message from talktalk giving me a issue reference number. Then I wait for a call back - I get nothing!!! During my last (third call 10 days from the first one) the operator told me that I was within the minimum guaranteed speed!!!! Naturally I pointed out that being given an estimated speed and guaranteed speed of 72mbps was way ahead of anything I was getting and I considered talktalk to be in breach of contract. She then told me that I was indeed under my guaranteed speed and could cancel with no penalties if after her having uprated my issue to top status for action there was no improvement. That was 6 days ago now and still nothing has been heard from talktalk. It seems I will have to cancel and go elsewhere.
HG633 - DSL up but no WAN IP/DNS address'?
Internet access fine until 10.40am yesterday, nothing since.
She informed me it required a tt engineer visit to update the modems firmware (with a shed load of terms & £ conditions) and refused point blank to allow me to update myself, crikey... it's not rocket science!
Tried another VDSL modem but no joy. Pretty sure it's a tt/bt issue but I'd appreciate your input

Fibre Broadband - Speed Issue New Installation
Hi
I upgraded to Fibre Broadband last Tuesday 23 Feb 2016. I ahve installed my new router wirelessly. My speeds seem to have increased compared to Simpy Broadband but not by as much as I was led to believe.
- How can I check my speeds?
- The speed checker on the Talk Talk site does not seem to work!!! I have tried several other different websites but get about 15Mbps download and about 1.8Mbps upload. No where can I seem to find a ping value.
Can someone at Talk Talk help?
Kind regards
My fibre large has slowed down?
Having decided to stay with fibre large as i have a consistant 8mbps upload, i have seen my download speeds drop from around 38mbps to now a slow 25mbps? this has happened over the last week, i have recently disconected my router a few times as to test my cables and filters etc but it re connects at the same sub 30mbps download speed.
If someone could perhaps find out why this might be and or re set my 'settings' and see what happens from then on?
Kind regards
Matt
Fibre Speed Dropped (Still On-Going)
I posted a message about my Fibre speed dropping from 38 MB to around 19 MB this time last month and had no response. Had fibre for just under a year with no issues and running consistently at around 38 MB, however, this has now dropped. Reset router with no success. No equipment has changed within the house that could have any potential impact. Could the line be checked, please?
I've chased this a number of times and also spoken to an advisor who gave a £10 refund and said a member of the technical team would be in touch to sort the issue, but nobody has. This was a week or so ago.
Can somebody from TalkTalk please look into this as I'm getting fed up now.
Thank you.
huawei HG633 router port forward instructions
Hi,
Simple request but I need an answer without lots of jargon PLEASE.
I have just gone TT Fibre and seek to reconnect my ipcameras for remote viewing.
Problem is that the router Huawei HG633 has a somewhat strange interface and requires "rules" setting up which I just do not understand.
I managed to Port Forward on my old pre fibre D Link router some time ago without any difficulty. It simply asked for the static camera ip(s), the camera domain name and a tick in the Port Forwarding box.
This interface is very different. I found a video showing how to setup Port Forwarding for a computer game but this referred to Applications which I didn't understand. A post by somebody on the community referred to Rules. I'm confused.
So I have 2 ip cams with static LAN 192.162.1.150 / 151 using whatever are the default ports. The domain name could be 35HSHikCam01 where 35HS = Address = 35 High Street
These are the only devices that I currently require remote access to (although I would also be interested in how to access the router remotely if indeed TT permit this)
I understand and have already initiated very strong passwords.
I appreciate that I will need a DDNS since the WAN address is DHCP.
I use Hik-online.com which automatically imports the HikVision camera details (once they have been forwarded) and all I have to do is to define the camera domain.
What I need to know is exactly WHAT I need to enter into the router pages. i.e. A worked example would be much appreciated.
In anticipation of your assistance.
THANK YOU. Stuart.
Can't use VPN with HG633

uploading kills downloading\internet access
Hi All,
I am having the exact same problem that these people experianced:
AND
As soon as anything is uploading then no other device can use the internet. It completly throttles it. As soon as uploading ceases, normal service resumes.
I have Talk Talk Fibre and am using the HG635 router. The solution seems to be to send another router judging from the other scenarios...
I phoned the customer service line this morning and did all the diganositics before i had identified that it was only with uploading. I then phoned them back the same day once i had identified what causes it. They were absolutly unhelpful and wanted me to do all the same diagnositics again. I was quite dissapointed.
I'm encouraged others on here have been helped. Pease can this be resolved swiftly?
Many Thanks
Low speed
The last few days Ive been experiencing trouble with low speed and losing connection. I think it was a problem with the cable from the filter to the router. Ive replaced the cable but now it wont connect any higher than 5.1 mb. Im on 40mb fibre and was consistently getting 40mb.
This is my connection info

Drop in speed
Hi, I'm using the HG635 'super' router on the large fibre package FTTC.
I'm only 300 yrds from cabinet but the router gives a 61Mbps downstream rate. My computer is connected via ethernet(cat 7) 2ft away gives a speed of 45-47Mbps. This is the only device connected at time of testing.
1. Why is there such a drop from cabinet to house(was 76Mbps for about a month when installed)
2. And why does the speed drop so much from the router to the computer, over 20%
On a further note. The router is stated as 1,750Mbit/s., 1300Mbit/s on the 5GHz band and 400Mbit/s on the 2.4GHz. The 5GHz is transmitting at 1300 but the 2.4GHz band is only transmitting at a max of 300Mbit/s. How can I change it to achieve the quoted 400Mbit/s?
Thanks in advance.
7 Days with No fibre broadband or Dial tone!!!

No dial tone or internet service, been assured for the last five days BT openreach are working on the issue and to wait ANOTHER 24 hrs, id like some action taken with regards to my fault
