please update my HG633 router to latest firmware (v1.16t ?) to solve my VPN Connection issues

Hello there,

Having googled the problem after having TalkTalk support say they can't support VPN, and finding that it can be done through the community pages, please could I have my router flashed to the latest firmware so I can connect my work iPad to the VPN.

Is it v1.16 ? .... I've seen another post that says v1.17t was flashed to someone's HG633 router.

I've established it's not the iPad as I can connect to VPN via a mobile hotspot.

My Community profile has the landline number on it, is that all i need to do ?

Thanks very much in advance,

John

Sneaky speed control?

I reported a fault last month and it was fixed by bt openreach engineers days ago. I thought i can have a stable, fast fibre connection now. However i found that in the past a few days the download speed keeps changing.
I had a speed of 35mb/s the first day. Then the next day i found there was a reconnection during the night and speed drops to around 12mb/s. Reset the router seemed fixed the issue but it just keeps happening. The downstream line rate shown by router changes from time to time which reflects the download speed quite well.

Please someone explain to me why is this happening and how can it be fixed. I was expecting a fast internet with stable speed when i moved to talktalk fibre but quite disappointed so far

HG633 Slow Wifi

Hello.  I am at the end of my teether with talktalk.

I have the HG633 and I am on the large fibre.

I originally received speeds of upto 80mb.

My speed dropped off to 20-30mb all the time.  The speeds are the same wired and wirless.

I have tried everything i can think of. (I am a technicinan my self)

I have had a brightspark out from Qube to give me a new HG633 router and nothing changed. He said the fault was with the BT Line but no one has been in touch. I have spoke to talktalk numerous times to be told they closed the case... id love to know why when they dont fix errors.

I ended up in an argument with one of there tech service people on the phone. He claimed there was zero faults on my line and it was internal wiring issue.

I have tried new modem lines. Moving the device. Changing the channel. Nothing works.

I pluggged my line directly into a microfilter and into the master sockets test socket internally. My speeds went from 20mb to 30-50mb. still not up to speed. but better than before. Talktalk will not take responsibility for this.

I have attatched some images from my routers maintanence if this helps.

I was going to buy a second hand bt hub 4 and connect it up and bin the HG633

I ALSO NOTICE THAT TALKTALK TAKE ZERO NOTICE OF CUSTOMERS AS LONG AS THEY GET MONEY AND HOW MANY COMPLAINTS ARE IN THIS FORUM ABOUT THE HG633 OR FIBRE LARGE NOT AT FULL SPEED.....

Medium Fibre Line speed slow when max line speed high

I have a ticket raised for this but as it was like wading through treacle I thouht I would get the community view.

For the past few weeks my actual speed has been getting slower and it's now 0.8M up and 15M down with interleaving. However the router stats show a potential max up stream rate of 18M and 75M down! and I'm not sure how to interpret the noise figures

I've concluded that the Openreach DLM is throttling this for some reason but how you get this solved is proving difficult especilally as the support line ask everything but the relevant question.

Can anyone help?

Constant connection loss

It is some time since I have had to resort to the Forum, but it was good for me last time, here`s hoping.

I moved to `fibre and copper` medium about 18 months ago and, given the distance to the cabinet, was pleased with both the speed and reliability I received. Upload 1.8mbps – download 32 to 34mbps. Only loss of connection due to maintenance, usually early Monday mornings. One happy TalkTalk customer – then 2016 hit.

Early January the router regularly started losing connection and on each occasion would reboot. Sometimes hours would pass between reboots, sometimes minutes, sometimes seconds. On occasion the reboot would revert the router back to factory settings losing port forwarding and static settings. The speed dropped gradually over this time by twothirds. The system quickly become unusable. I contacted Customer Support and went through all normal tests - no joy – BrightSparks engineer booked for earliest appointment a wait of THREE WEEKS (already one months service lost.)

Six days before the engineers visit the router settled – no connection losses and speeds back to almost normal. I made my first mistake – the day before the engineers visit I cancelled to avoid any cost – within three hours of that cancellation call the problem returned.

My second call to Customer Support – a second BrightSparks appointment with another wait of THREE WEEKS and a warning of not to cancel (a second months service lost and no compensation offered).

The problem continued – the engineer visited and pronounced the router and house setup okay, he thought OpenReach may be responsible. The problem continued until on Saturday 27th February the connection would not stay up for more than a few seconds and the router spent the whole day rebooting.

On Sunday, 28th February the router managed to connect and has only lost connection once to date. The problem now is the speed which appears fixed to – 23mbps down and 0.6mbps up (a third download speed and twothirds upload speed lost).

Can anything be done or do I need to start considering other options?

Dynamic IP is no more... and wifi issues HG635

Right.

I'm experiencing some weird issues with HG635. I'm on fibre large (if it helps  with anything)

1 - reported a fault at the end of january

2 - TWO engineers visit (one from talk talk reported fault on the line, one from openreach did fibre reset) it took a month to sort out, last engineer visit was last monday

3 - Broadband connection seemed fine for 30 mins after openreach enginner left. and then...

No one fiddled with my router settings, but somehow I lost 2.4Ghz band, and only 5Ghz was working, it lasted for 2 days. (I could not even see my router on wireless devices list, using 2.4Ghz laptop)

After that, 2.4Ghz was back but...Every time I'm trying to use it for something more than low profile web browsing (youtube is no-no) router is dropping a connection.

Ok. I did restart router (after 30 mins of waiting), and it's same. I cannot even do a speed test, because connection drops right away (I cannot even go into router options via wifi after connection is lost)

Strangest thing is - if connected via cable to router, connection seems to be stable, I can perform speed test etc. (well. it drops connection after some time, but still it's better than wifi)

Is router playing pranks on me?

Another thing I noticed. For over a month my IP did not change. I thought I was supposed to have dynamic IP, so everytime my router disconnects and connects back, or is being turned off for some time, I should get IP which should be different from last one.

But I'm getting same IP address all the time.

Did something changed on talk talk' side?

Those below also stays same all the time, along with my IP

Primary DNS Server: 62.24.134.5
Secondary DNS Server:78.151.236.4

All was tested on different devices at my home, results are same.

Phoned talk talk, and they will send replacement router, but not HG635 as I'm having now. It's supposed to be HG633 or something.

Will that sort IP issues, or its totally different thing?

Is talktalk Fibre Medium worth the bother as there are lots of problems listed here?

I am interested in upgrading to Fibre and am currently getting 10 Mb/s download and 1.02 upload using standard broadband unlimited on an HG533 Router.
Looking at the community Boards there appears to be lots of problems and Talktalk, as usual appear not to be interested?
So is it worth the bother and does anyone know what has happened to Talktalk’s Fibre offer of 18 month contract with 12 months free then £10/month?

WPS being turned back on??

Hi all, looking for some help if poss i've had fibre for the past couple of months using the supplied Huawei HG633 router i,ve noticed in the past couple of weeks that my WIFI network has been accessed by another user( An andriod phone). I know this by going into my router via the 192.168.1.1 web page and as i've renamed all the devices in my home so it stands out, i've removed it but it has came back again. I disabled the WPS feature as i've heard how easily it can be hacked only to go back in at a later date to find it enabled again!! Is this a weak spot with these routers i wonder? Any advice would be greatly appreciated Smile

No Internet connection

Hi,

Around 2 hours ago I lost Internet connection. I tried the usual rebooting if the router and still not up. I found that dsl is synced but it just doesn't connect to the talktalk network to get an IP etc. Phone line is fine too so seems to me that equipment and line are ok.

I've called talktalk support twice now who were less than helpful. basically asked me if the Internet light on the router is red, whether I'm on a laptop or desktop and what version of windows I'm running - then ran a line test and said that there were no errors on the line and said that an engineer visit is required - earliest appointment in 10 days time !

As I said before and tried to explain to them, phone line is fine and dsl does sync so it seems to be a talktalk network issue

In the past I've had much better luck here with any issues I've had, is there anyone who can check on this to see if there is anything you can do? I work from home and having no Internet connection for 10 days to wait for an engineer to come out to say the line and equipment are fine is not an appealing prospect.

Any help or advise would be much appreciated , let me know if you need any further info.

Thanks
Chris

hg633 loss of network

Hello.  I have recently upgraded to fibre and got a new hg633 router.  I'm generally very happy with it, but I have an odd infuriating problem.  Two of my laptops running windows 10 support 5Ghz wifi and run fine at this speed until they go into sleep or hibernation.  When they wake up they cannot connect to the network until I restart the router.  I can't ping the network.  Resetting the network controller in the PCs has no effect.  They work fine on the 2.4 Ghz channel.  I also have a tablet which runs on the 5GHZ channel with no problem.  Has anyone  got any ideas as to what may be the problem?

Crashing when downloading at full speed

$

I mainly use my PC as a full multimedia device, downloading movies, games among other things. I have a speedtest download speed of 70-75 mbps so there isnt anything wrong with the overall speed of the broadband, however when downloading a file at full speed through a torrent client or on steam in which I used to get a speed of around 7-9 download, the talktalk supplied router either crashes or the internet simply gets throttled. The latter is most likely the case because if the speed is capped below the amount it tends to not stop. Once the router is restarted(no 30 second wait just simply off and on again imediately) it comes back on and works again, however if i dont cap the speed around a minute later the same thing occurs. Does anyone know a fix or possible fixes for such error.
