Regards,
I've been suffering the same problems with wifi that many have reported with the Huawei HG633 not-so-Super Router:
And so I thought I'd share what I've done which seems to have fixed the problem.
I bought one of these: http://amzn.to/1Tfz6By for just under £20, it's a nano router, and plugged it into the HG633 by ethernet cable. (Note: I went for the 300mbps one)
Then, I've set it up in "Access Point Mode", so that it is pumping out a new wifi network, and transmitting everything by cable into the HG633 (thus bypassing the HG633's wifi problems).
Having run for a day so far, I've had no dropouts or disconnects, streaming is working perfectly, and a total of zero - yes, ZERO!!! wireless packet errors.
Obviously, YMMV, but seems to be working for me, and well worth the £20 for the sake of my sanity.
Hi there
Where I first got Fibre max I was getting speeds around 65mbs. Over the past 12 months or so it has slowed down to c30mbs no matter when I test it (wired). This hasn't been an issue previously except now when multiple TVs / devices are streaming there is buffering.
What can you advise to increase the speed again? There has been no change to my router or Openreach fibre router in the 3 years I've been using Fibre max.
Kind regards
Paul
this was a replacement for my 635 router which had good speeds of 37m now i only get 27-30m
Hi,
I'm experiencing the same difficulties as many have had with the HG633 Super Router and Cisco VPN WiFi connectivity. Can I request my router firmware be upgraded to v1.16t, or whichever is the latest version, that will resolve this issue?
Thanks.

Thr crappy indian call centre in their infinite wisdom upgrade me by changing my plan from fibre to ADSl without telling me!!!!!
I am now back on fibre and my BT modem as well as the TT HG 633 router keep losing the synch. I have not changed anything and its plugged directly into the BT master socket which is pre filtered and only have the phone connected.
Prior to be cut of connection was rock solid, any idea as call centre are *@#][!![]'#[@#]!* and I relly dont have the patients to go through the same tests again
It has come to my attention that my IP has been changed. Not only this, but when running the Ookla speed test, (my favourite speed tester) it usually tells me that I am with Talktalk. Recently, the provider has changed to Tiscali UK Limited. I have never been with this company nor heard of it. My speed has dropped drastically from 30mbps to 0.73. My upload is usually 18mbps but has also dropped to 0.53. I am paying £35 a month for fibre optic and I would call but I never get answers. As they read by script, it is extremely difficult to talk to them. I don't know if this is the right board to talk about this as I have unlimited fibre broadband but I do not have the superfast fibre.
Streaming is constantly affected. Not impressed since switching to talktalk - good job they're not called surfsurf...
Hi,
I suspect there my be an fault on my line.
My Fibre is slowing with a current downstream connection speed of 39709 Kbps vs an attainable rate of 56752Kbps.
DLM has increased my interleaving depth to 2803 whereas it has sat around 900 for years.
I am not noticing disconnections but have reset the router a few times to check for a fault in the router itself (after the 2800 intereave was added).
Online gaming is no longer playable due to stuttering and hitching.
Grateful for some assistance in getting the line back to normal performance please.
Telephone services are fine.
Sorry, I posred this in the wrong section first.
Why does the upload speed go *@#][!![]'#[@#]!* up whenever I try to upload a vid? It is taking me an age to upload a vid to youtube. Why is the upload speed so slow? It always has been. Shocking,,,
Hello.
i have few complains. 1st -My internet keeps dissapearing and appearing for no reason. i am using HG633 router. Sometimes internet is off(braodband light flashing, interlet light off) for 1 day, gets back for 6 hours, and off again for another day. Last week i called TT support, they toll me to change micro filter. i did it, but i still have same problem. i am using wired connection. When internet is on, sometimes internet light is flashing, but i do not get dissconets. and ethernet light is flasshing aswell. Nothing else is pluged in sockets, and i do not have telephone to check telephone signal.
That was the main complain. other problem -slow download speed. I was supposed to have over 30Mbs,as i am customer of fibre large. but i am not having more than 12Mbs. i did http://www.supportal-test.co.uk/ and entered my phone number.
And last problem - i am nable to do internet speed test via http://myaccount.talktalk.co.uk/speed-checker/
I choose that i am using wired connection, and press start test. It's loading for a while, and nothing happens.
Thank you for your answers.
I have upgraded to fibre recently and as such have been given a hg633 router which is a directt replacement for a 533.
As per other home workers I am finding the wifi performance etc simply awful - just see my error stats
I had no problem with the hg533

Request firmware upgrade to 1.17 as per other home workers to solve these known weaknesses in the 633 router
Thanks
I noticed today that my router shows the upstream line rate as the same as the maximum upstream rate, but this isn't the case for the downstream rates, they seem to differ quite a bit. Is this just line management finding a decent connection that is less that the absolute maximum or is there an artifical limit? (I only ask as I seem to be missing out on a decent amount of potential bandwidth).
Screen grabs from before and after resetting DSL today which increased the speed by a bit.

Hi,
This seems like a never-ending circle. When I upgraded to fibre the speed was great, no issues.
I still have no issues, except that over the past 2 months I've watched the speed drop from 36mbit to 29mbit and its still slowly dropping.
I talked to support via Live chat a few minutes ago and all I got was that my "line or router is faulty". The same canned response as always. The line is fine, the router is fine.
I went through the same bullcrap 2 weeks straight when trying to upgrade to fibre, only to find out that an engineer hadn't even connected the line properly.
Here are my router stats. I restarted the router after an uptime of 34 days, thinking it might bump the speed up. However, I lost another 0.3mbit instead...
Considering I'm actually paying for the Fibre Large (76mbit) package, and getting a speed which is less than the Fibre Medium package, I have to say at this point in time I am seriously considering switching unless something is done about it.
On top of the hack last year, I'm starting to think that renewing with TalkTalk was a big mistake.
I'm having trouble getting remote desktop to connect. I've tried all of the advice on these boards but still nothing:
- Verified that VPN is connecting successfully
- Mapped port 3389 external to internal and on to my iMac
- Made sure pptp is open
- Made sure that the host computer's firewall isn't the problem by successfully logging in from a different netwrk
- Successfully connected to remote desktop by using my iPhone as a wireless hotspot and connecting my Mac to that
- Used port mapping, not port trigger (although that doesn;t work either)
The issue seems to be with the HG633 router settings, and I've followed everything that's been suggested. Is 3389 blocked by default, or has anyone else managed to remote in using TalkTalk fibre?
Thanks for your help
Tom
Hi is it possible anyone knows how to do this I can get an open NAT on my Xbox One but can't manage to get both devices to get open NAT at the same time using the port forwarding guides I've tried.
Has anybody got port forwarding to work with the HG633 router?
I have set it up and it did work initially but as soon as I rebooted the computer it stoppoed working. I can get it working again but only if I remove all the settings, reboot the router, and then set it all up again, but this is no good as it fails next time the computer is rebooted.
I am pretty sure all is set up correctly and the computer has a fixed IP on my local network that is outside the DHCP range.
I have no problem with my old router but it does not support TT TV (although I have it available on standby for backups as the 100Mb LAN ports on this rouyter take 5+ hours to backup to my NAS vs 35 minutes using my old router with its 1Gb LAN ports).
TalkTalk refuse to help when I phone them as quite unbelievably they do not support port forwarding on their routers despite desribing them as 'super routers'. Quite how something with 100Mb LAN ports and no support for port forwarding can be described as 'super' is beyond me.
