Crackly phone line on fibre broadband

$

Since switching to fibre broadband, the phone line has become very crackly. Internet speed has so far been OK, although I have had to restart the router a couple of times in order to improve the speed or to resolve a dropped connection.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Thanks.

Hi,

I restarted my router three times and still getting exact same speed Down 39997/ Up 1999

My line Downstream/ Upstream noise safety coefficient (dB): 19.2/ 27.7 which are high due to speed restrictions but why i am not connecting at full speed Down 40000/ Up 2000,  why its just fixed to 39997/1999?

Thanks

Had a fault in my line which got fixed last week but been getting slow speed since then (7.43Mbps download) when im supposed to be on fibre large.

Increasingly poor speeds and intermittent loss of service over last 4 weeks

Hello

I have had 3 phone calls with the folks on the helpline (always helpful, txt confirmations sent to me on my mobile etc - but no actual actions occurred), and a couple of online live agent chats. Now trying the forum here.

We have had speeds of around 65Mbps since we have had the account but around a month ago speeds dropped to 30Mbps then down to 23 on average.

And the last week or so we have had no broadband at all intermittently (around 20 or so tomes a day it just cuts out).

This week the landline dial tone stopped, then came back, then stopped. And lots of crackling on the line.

I'm guessing it's a physical fault with the telephone line coming into the house?

Can you send an engineer out (or liaise with BT?) asap?

Thanks.

My braodband has gone from average 72 Mbps down to 27 Mbps average. Not impressed.

What can be done as open reach have no errors on the line?

My fibre broadband is very slow

I had fibre installed around a week ago but seem to be getting just over 1mbps. The engineer did mention that they detected a fault on the line but with it going live I do not know if they had sorted problem out

Download speed dropping frequently.

I am paying for Large Fibre mainly because of the upload speed.

Medium Fibre is too low at 2Mbs

The upload speed I get is fine 12 - 15Mbs consistantly.

But the download speed drops down to 25Mbs and generally runs at around 35-39Mbs

I do expect to get higher download speed than that.

I have tried rebooting the router and no difference.

Given the time of day I would have thought it would be at its highest now.

Any ideas.

Could you please check my line.

Brian

Hi I have bought a TP-Link N600 (TD-W9980). I have a stable DSL light but no internet connection. When I look on the WAN settings, It's not picking up an IP address and when I run a diagnostic it comes up with DHCP Connection Fail.

I have read a few articles on here but not yet found a solution. Any help would be much appreciated.

i was promised by talktalk a number of things to get me to go to fibre optic broardband , which i agreed to, upon receipt of my new contract i read it only to find a totally different offer to the 1 i agreed to , i have talked to there team all the way up to ceo level and suprisingly they cannot find the original recording of my call to the sales team. they have repeatedly lied to me about the issue and i am waiting for the ceo team to ring. i would advice everybody not to use talktalk without recording the call yourselves. they are not an honest company. i will wait and see what the ceo people have to say .

Good morning,

My fibre broadband go live did not happen last night as scheduled - i have checked MyAccount this morning and it shows my router has not been shipped, yet the new HG633 you shipped is nicely blinking away in my bedroom, also the message when i click on track my order is "We're sorry, the system is unable to process your request at this time.  Please try again later."

Could someone please provide me an update,

Many thanks

James.

New Medium Fibre intallation slower than my old standard broadband!

Hi Everyone, Sorry if I am being a bobble head, but I dont really know where to start with this issue.

Previously,we had been stuck in the dark ages waiting and waiting for fibre to come available in our area. We were with BT but had such issues with speeds and cut outs we wanted to change providers once fibre was available. Well BT monopolised it for 6 months or so but thankfully last month it became available with TALK TALK. we had previously been with talk talk before we moved and were more than happy to transfer back.

We went live on Medium Fibre on 19th Feb. With a minimum guarenteed speed of 35mb/s (although I dont think this is to do with the speed am i right?) anyway ....oh my I feel I have gone backwards even more and our medium fibre is actually so much slower than our old bog standard BT broadband!!! Speed test is showing a download speed of 1.5MB/S - Surely on medium fibre it should be a little faster than this?

Anyway, what steps do i take to try and reslove the speed issue, i really cant believe that any fibre should be slower than standard broadband.

Hi,

I am using TalkTalk supplied Huawei HG633 super router. Having lots of issues with this router since long time -

1) I have to reboot it everyday as signal strength drops and internet becomes slow. You reboot it and it comes back as fast and degrades gradually.

2) My work VPN doesn't work

3) Spoke to TalkTalk technical desk, asked them if they can upgrade the firmware on my router to 1.16t but they don't have a clue

4) Tried changing channels for wifi but no luck.

Help please...

Regards,

Mahip

I've had 3 engineer visits trying to fix my fibre broadband.now the problem has been found and it's the fibre cable snapped and there is no spare..ive been told the fault is no with open reach but no one can tell me if it's going to go on into the 3rd week I only get updated if I call talk talk but cannot see why after 3 engineer visits the problem still isn't sorted..

Unsure why my Fibre Large is slow?

Hi All,

I have recenty upgraded from normal Talk Talk Broadband to Talk Talk Fibre Large.

I was sent my new Super Router, which I set up.

On the day of Go Live I was sent an email to say My Fibre Large was now active, all good so far.

I checked the stats in the Router which Showed as follows:

Line Quality

Upstream line rate (kbit/s): 19000

Downstream line rate (kbit/s): 79999

Upstream noise safety coefficient (dB): 5.3

Downstream noise safety coefficient (dB): 6.5

Upstream interleave depth:298

Downstream interleave depth:1

Line standard: VDSL2

Upstream line attenuation (dB): 0.1

Downstream line attenuation (dB): 5.7

Upstream output power (dBm): -1.6

Downstream output power (dBm): 14.5

Channel type:Fast

Again all seems good, nice Download and Upload connection.

However my download speed is not much better then when I had normal Broadband.

When I was on Normal TalkTalk Broadband I was connected at about 21000 and could get a dowload speed of  1.98 to 2.00MB/sec.

On my Fibre Large my download speed is about 3.80MB/sec, althought this does fluxuate, but the most I've ever had was for about 2 seconds at 4.35MB/Sec.

I have done multiple Speed Tests on various websites and they tell me I'm connected at about 50.10Mbps Download and 14.65Mbps Upload.

According to my Talk Talk Account I should be connected at between 66.84Mb and 80.00Mb Download and an Upload of 19.00Mb or 20.00Mb

With a guaranteed Download of 54.84Mb.

From the speed tests I've done I'm falling short. I also don't understand the slow Download speed as even from the speed test data I should be getting faster speeds than I am.

I have waited my 10 days bedding in period and Router stats still say the same (as above) and my download speed is still the same (slow), in some instances even slower than when I had normal Broadband.

At the moment I feel very much cheated.  Any advice would most welcome.

Thanks.

HG633 VPN connection problem

$

About a month ago I had a visit from TalkTalk engineer due to problems with internet connection & speed. It turned out that there was an issue with the line which he contacted BT to sort out and also the router wasn't working correctly, so he changed it. From that point my internet connection was good also the speed. But about two weeks ago, everything starts to repeat, my connection is slowing down, dropping and i have to reset the router.

In addition to this I am now working from home and need a VPN connection, which reading the forum seems like is a common problem. I really need to get it fixed quickly. Any suggestions?

HG635 Wireless Issues

I have an HG635 and the wireless keeps dropping for all remote devices.

I am having to reboot the router at least once a day to sort this out.

I have contacted support regarding the issue and have changed the channels and changed the security mode to WPA2-PSK and the issue is still persisting.

Hardware version: G.1.0.1

Software Version: v1.04ttb

Connection via Cat5 is not an issue.

Any suggestions on how to resolve the issue?
